I've been quoted as saying that if I were to give up any of my vices, certainly soda would be the first to go. It's not that I'm totally gonzo over things like Coke and Pepsi; I consider myself a beverage guy. I like drinks that taste good, alcohol or not, soda or not; that's why I like Snapple Elements, for instance. Anyway, one of my favorite sodas is Dr Pepper. It's just a great, great drink. I had seen a PBS documentary on junk food and sodas once; it mentioned that the very first Dr Pepper factory, in Dublin TX, still made the concoction the way it was intended: with pure cane sugar. None of this cheap sugar, oh no! But said drink wasn't available in this area. What to do? Well, thanks to a great store called Pop The Soda Shop, you can order a wide assortment of sodas and teas from them. They do have a few drinks sold locally, but the best part is that lots of other sodas are available to you. Like the aforementioned Dr Pepper with pure cane sugar! The overall shopping experience on the site is pleasant. The order took about 10 days to get to me, which wasn't bad. The actual sodas were packed meticulously, in a box loaded with cardboard protection and styrofoam peanuts. Shipping is rather pricey but is worth it (would you want a cardboard box dripping with sticky soda?) So, give them a try. By the way, if you're unfamiliar with Green River, try it. It's a drink that's starting to become hard-to-find in the Chicago area, although it's made right here. In any event, it's quite delicious. -pm Comments

DATE: Monday March 20, 2000 -- 1:35:17PM I basically have cut back on soda alot recently. I just felt like it was another thing that I didn't need to be putting in my body, not that it's bad but alot of times I don't know what is in these things. I haven't had many sodas this school year, and recently I haven't had any in about a month. FROM: Ryan DATE: Monday March 20, 2000 -- 3:24:23PM A few guys from work joined me on an order from this place after Paul told me about it. I also avoid drinking overloads of soda (mainly because caffeine can really do a number on my stomach), but I do allow myself some indulgences, like these. :) FROM: Ryan DATE: Tuesday March 21, 2000 -- 2:16:21PM We got our order today -- and we saw why the shipping is so expensive! The box was 31 pounds... combine that with UPS' tendency to overcharge and you have your reason. :) FROM: Ryan DATE: Tuesday March 28, 2000 -- 3:50:13PM To start off my reviews of my Popsoda sodas: FROM: Robert DATE: Thursday December 21, 2000 -- 9:53:31AM I don't remember where on the Ping I brought up this issue, but this seems as good a place as any for an update... FROM: Ammon DATE: Tuesday March 20, 2001 -- 4:05:24AM Alright...here's the story: In 1986-88, I lived in South America. Of course, there was little water ever that would be consumable by us, the spoiled of the United States, so...I got addicted to Pepsi and Coke products. A whole huge gut later(225 pounds now), I am struggling in a big way to fight off the daily desire for a carbonated drink with caffeine. Any suggestions? FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday March 20, 2001 -- 9:21:16AM Uhm... well... don't buy anything at Pop the Soda Shop. FROM: Ryan DATE: Tuesday March 20, 2001 -- 9:44:49AM Of course my suggestion is to substitute tea... no carbonation, but less caffeine and infinitely healthier (especially if you drink green tea). FROM: Robert DATE: Tuesday March 20, 2001 -- 10:47:22AM Diet Dr Pepper is the only way to go! FROM: people DATE: Sunday November 30, 2003 -- 5:43:07 pm u SUCK IN GIVING INFORMATION ABOUT SODA!!!!!!! FROM: Jason K DATE: Wednesday January 21, 2004 -- 5:56:21 pm Actually, I think that store.sodafavorites.com FROM: Ryan [E-Mail] DATE: Thursday January 22, 2004 -- 10:18:37 am That store looks like nothing more than a place to buy the same old stuff you can buy at 7-11. Pop offers much more variety. FROM: Bob DATE: Sunday June 20, 2004 -- 1:43:14 pm Nice self-plug Jason FROM: stepahnie DATE: Monday June 21, 2004 -- 10:21:04 pm Where the hell can i buy mello yello soda thats close to massachusetts????? FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday June 22, 2004 -- 9:26:48 am This is obviously the place to ask. FROM: Joseph DATE: Tuesday June 22, 2004 -- 12:07:49 pm Soda is liquid candy. It rots your teeth, makes you fat, hypes you up quick and lets you down hard. FROM: phx [E-Mail] DATE: Friday January 28, 2005 -- 8:53:26 am yeah...it's way safer to drink beer at lunch than soda...hah... anyway sodafavorites.com is a scam, pop the soda shop is not. FROM: GeorgeStebbins DATE: Sunday August 14, 2005 -- 11:45:52 pm Yep, sodafavorites.com is a scam. Check out how I scam people here http://georgestebbins.com FROM: Sammy Reed DATE: Monday August 15, 2005 -- 12:45:45 pm I got Coke from Holland for my mom for Christmas. If it DOESN'T use the pre-1985 formula, they sure know how to make it taste like it DOES.

First it was...
"Due to the threat of litigation from PepsiCo, we will no longer sell Pepsi!" And now it's... "Due to the threat of litigation from Coca-Cola, we will no longer sell Coca-Cola!." No more Coke from Holland, I guess.

I just found out, after looking that page up for the first time in a dang while, that now they're selling Coke products again - including Coke from Holland!

It should be pointed out that they don't offer Coke from France, 500ML Coke, or Coca-Cola Light on their website yet.
