I basically have cut back on soda alot recently. I just felt like it was another thing that I didn't need to be putting in my body, not that it's bad but alot of times I don't know what is in these things. I haven't had many sodas this school year, and recently I haven't had any in about a month.
I may however order some of these sodas, for the rare treat because I am always a fan of underdog products. My favorite sodas are Mello Yello and RC. I may indulge in some of this Dr. Pepper with Cane sugar.

A few guys from work joined me on an order from this place after Paul told me about it. I also avoid drinking overloads of soda (mainly because caffeine can really do a number on my stomach), but I do allow myself some indulgences, like these. :)

We got our order today -- and we saw why the shipping is so expensive! The box was 31 pounds... combine that with UPS' tendency to overcharge and you have your reason. :)

In any event, I'll be commenting on specific sodas here after I try them... I'll try to convince the guys I ordered with to do the same.

To start off my reviews of my Popsoda sodas:

Black Lemonade
Sure enough, this stuff is pitch black. It doesn't taste like lemonade, but it is sour and citrusy. The odd thing is, that a few seconds after taking a swig, my throat started to burn. Maybe it's the dozen different herbs (ginseng, ginko, etc.) that they include. Very interesting tasting stuff, but my stomach felt a bit queasy after about half a bottle -- there's a reason there's a skull on the front of the bottle!

Interestingly, it also left a black ring around the inside of my lips.

The Big Co. Egg Cream Vanilla
Pretty good creme soda, but not as thick as I would have expected from the name. It has an interesting color, too -- it looks like milk.

Willie's Hemp Soda: Black Cherry
I'm not a huge fan of black cherry, but the fact this was hemp soda made me try it. I must say, this is the best tasting black cherry I've ever had. But I had the munchies after drinking it... weird. :)

Dr. Pepper with Imperial Cane Sugar
There's only one bottling plant in the United States that still makes Dr. Pepper this way, and boy does it make a difference. This tastes excellent, and is served in 8 oz. bottles, allowing for more carbination. Yum.

I don't remember where on the Ping I brought up this issue, but this seems as good a place as any for an update...

Two summers ago I found Arizona Chocolate and Vanilla flavored cola at a deli in Richmond, VA. After much searching between then and now (including the inaccurately-named Total Beverage) I was not able to find it ever again. Some time yesterday I emailed Arizona and asked if they still made it or what (it was not listed on their site). You'll be happy to know the Soda Shop series was discontinued, and that all my efforts were in vain. I will now move on to getting that fancy French lemonade they sell at Total Beverage.

Alright...here's the story: In 1986-88, I lived in South America. Of course, there was little water ever that would be consumable by us, the spoiled of the United States, so...I got addicted to Pepsi and Coke products. A whole huge gut later(225 pounds now), I am struggling in a big way to fight off the daily desire for a carbonated drink with caffeine. Any suggestions?

Of course my suggestion is to substitute tea... no carbonation, but less caffeine and infinitely healthier (especially if you drink green tea).

Actually, I think that store.sodafavorites.com
is a much better place to get soda. The shipping is a lot cheaper and they have a better selection than that pop stop place

Soda is liquid candy. It rots your teeth, makes you fat, hypes you up quick and lets you down hard.

Diet soda? Lord, don't get near it. What's in there?

Many sodas used to be made with carbonated water. But many contain phosphoric acid now because it's cheap industrial waste that is cheaper than water. Some scientist determined that it's weaker than stomach acid, so it must be okay to drink. Kill two birds with one stone and make millions! Charge industry for waste disposal and sell it to the soda companies!

Of course, besides those long nights of drinking in college, when was the last time you bathed the ivories in stomach acid. I still bet you didn't do it on a dialy basis. Ever see an anorexic's teeth? Think soda.

If you do choose to drink sugared soda, here's some advice from my dentist. Have it with lunch, don't take tiny sips all day long--don't nurse it, you just keep bathing your teeth in acid and sugar (which bacteria "converts" to acid (by eating it and pooping out acid all over your teeth)). Yum!!

Is it me, or did the carbonation in two litre bottles used to last longer than two to four hours? I think the soda industry has invented a way to make soda go flat faster in order to sell more soda.

That's another reason I've given up on soda. Besides being really bad for you, it just goes flat too fast.

We should all really just drink beer instead, especially at lunch time. Soda was invented during prohibition when you couldn't get beer and people missed fizzy drinks. Now that beer is back, soda should go.

I got Coke from Holland for my mom for Christmas. If it DOESN'T use the pre-1985 formula, they sure know how to make it taste like it DOES.
