Okay. I just watched the episode wherein Homer makes a Drudge-like webpage, which you can see here. The episode itself, I thought, was pretty pretty bad. The plot was, uhm, not there. It seems as if this has been happening for a while, though. I don't even know if I can say that The Simpsons is still one of the best shows on TV... not with Saved by the Bell still in reruns! I'm a Simpsons fan, but I think it's time to hang it up. It just isn't that good anymore. It's 11 years old, for cryin' out loud... very few shows with actual content make it past two seasons. Let's just respect that in its heyday, The Simpsons was a very funny TV show, and remains the longest-running cartoon in TV history. Bow out. -pm Comments

DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 8:33:52AM You've presented a point I have wanted to investigate for a long time...why are men so fascinated by The Simpsons? What makes it so appealing? I like it, but hey, it's not THAT great. FROM: Rob DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 9:21:56AM The only redeeming bit about this past episode was the homage to The Prisoner. The rest of it was pretty lame. FROM: Paul DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 9:26:35AM I think it appeals to guys because a lot of the humor was on a lower-level, but it also had a high degree of more cerebral humor, too. FROM: Robert DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 9:27:57AM Eh, it's still entertaining. If you want to believe that it ended years ago, go ahead. I'll still watch it. FROM: Paul DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 10:58:43AM There really isn't any point to complaining. FROM: Robert DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 12:32:40PM Paul--Is the pressure to perform getting to you? FROM: Robert DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 1:40:40PM Tina--Are you trying to suggest a male/female disparity in liking the Simpsons. Do you realize in doing this you will have reduced this (once) great show to the level of the Three f'ing Stooges? :0 FROM: Matt DATE: Monday December 4, 2000 -- 3:21:02PM I can name one show that went 10 seasons all of which were great: Married With Children. Also I think I spotted Seven on a milk carton recently. FROM: Tina DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 8:47:40AM Even Paul said: "For the record, one of my female pals absolutely adores The Simpsons." Notice the word ONE. Not ALL or SOME or MANY....ONE. What does that say? And the only Stooges I happen to like are the ones once fronted by Iggy Pop. (I think!) Anyway, at least the Simpsons are a little more highbrown than ... South Park. Yikes! :) FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 9:09:59AM Of course, Iggy was the Stooge after Shemp but BEFORE Curl(e)y Joe - he didn't last long. FROM: Robert DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 9:58:09AM Iggy got bounced from the Stooges after too much on-camera nudity. FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 11:05:43AM Not that Thanksgiving ep, Robert. ;) Other than that, yeah, SP is pretty good. FROM: Robert DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 11:13:35AM Which SP Thanksgiving episode do you mean? The Braveheart one from last year was pretty crappy. This year's I liked. I was happy to see Timmy's destructive side. FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 2:18:47PM This year's. I thought it was, uh, pretty bad. FROM: Robert DATE: Tuesday December 5, 2000 -- 2:23:26PM Paul--We must agree to disagree. How 'bout last week's episode? I thought it was a nice idea but a little constraining. I was superjacked that they got Malcolm McDowell (f'g Caligula!) to narrate. The best part is at the end when he says that he's just "an English person. FROM: jeff DATE: Saturday December 9, 2000 -- 7:36:22PM for a good argument about this, go to: FROM: Robert DATE: Sunday December 10, 2000 -- 4:02:44PM Jeff--No offense, but there can be no good argument on this topic. It's a TV show, plain and simple. If a person doesn't like it, s/he go out and get hammered on Sunday nights because it's obvious s/he has nothing better going on than to worry about entertainment.
