Paul, sorry to break it to you but the Farrell's in Eugene no longer goes by that name--it's now the Pearl Street Ice Cream Parlor or "Pearl's." I've never been in there, but in driving by, I've noticed that it appears to have a "carnival atmosphere." It's a big red building with huge windows and circus-y stuff painted on the walls inside.
If it's any consolation, I've heard it's pretty good, and there's some ice cream dish there that requires about five people to finish.

Oh...I have some pics I simply must scan in. Imagine about forty trekkers at a former Farrell's. I think now it's called Portland Ice Cream Company or something, but only the name has changed. It's still a lot of low-rent fun. I had a premier party there for one of the ST movies...I think it was VI, because everyone got all teary-eyed.

There was a Farrell's at the Springfield Mall in S'field VA many many years ago. It just disappeared one day, but I didn't mourn it's passing until a few years ago.

It's a shame I only got pics of people in one part of the room, as these things are much more frightening in volume. Where's the Queen Dork, you ask? (They called me Captain T'kat. No, I'm not kidding) No pics of me. I've got the camera. And yes, I really made a centerpiece out of a candy-covered model.

To put this in perspective: we went to the theater, filling up a couple back rows, looking pretty normal. We were pointed out during the intro by a fellow from another club. He was in uniform. In fact, his whole club was there--in uniform. I haven't seen Trekkies, but I'm betting they're in it.

That was quite the establishment, you could get big sundaes and see clowns at the same time. I wish Robert and I were able to do that at Springfield mall, but alas.

Hi, just came across this site. I remember going to a Farrells in Houston,Tx when I was younger (in elementary school along with my brother and my parents. I really am not sure as to if it is still there or not. But ido remember having a good time. We would mostly go there for birthday parys for either myself or my brother. I lived sixty miles south of Houston and that is how far we would drive just to have a b'day party.

As Maria stated, There is a Farrells still in Eugene Or. (I took my step-daughter to it). In side was the old Farrells you remember. This I know because I worked at one in Van Nuys Ca. back in the "70s". There was even a couple of pictures of the Van Nuys store on the walls (yeh it blew me away). Well the reason I'm sending you this E-mail, is that a group of restraunt owners are getting to geather to open up a few more stores. The first to open is in the Canyon Country (Saugus) area. Probbly near Magic Mountion. My fondest memories of high school was working at Farrells (esp. on Wendsday nights (crouse nights). I hope these new owners won't run them into the ground as did the Marriott Corp. did. The best Birthday announcement made was for Marie Osmonds sweet 16th. She and Donny and Jay came in at the last minute, just before we closed for the day. This was at the height of their T.V. show days. Lets just say that by the time Marie left she had deffenitly been Kissed! I hope the new stores can and will be just as fun!

Just found your site...Now I'm hungry for a "Pig's Trough!" I used to manage the Farrell's in Canoga Park, CA back in the mid 70's. The kids from Cal State Northridge, Pierce College and Pepperdine used to make it a fun place for the younger crowd. LA Dodger Steve Garvey and ex-wife Cindy were regulars. It was absolutely the most fun I ever had working in a restaurant. I teach English in high school now, and tell my kid's stories about running "zoo's" and they look at me like I'm nuts! I still have my short tie and garters. I can still scoop a b-split in less than 45 seconds. God, I miss those times! I've heard there is a Farrell's (new) near Temecula, CA...I'm going to check it out...

I used to go to the Farrells w/ my brother and parents in the 70's when we lived on Oahu. I so want to take my 5 kids to one, but Oregon is a long way, from Texas. I have a rare & serious cancer I have been battling for 4 yrs. & am so wanting to let them share a bit of my happy memories.......if anyone knows of a Farrells closer let me know (or something like a Farrels) thanks.

yes I do remember Farrell's at montclair plaza! I grew up in ontario and my parents took us there for my birthday, they all closed and i never got to take my kids to these!... the candy shop was the best, it was a big thing!

I had a Canadian friend recently ask me about Farrell's. I guess he visited one of the few that are left. I noticed with pleasure that someone in this thread recalls the one in Springfield Mall in Northern Virginia. I actually have a couple photos of me with my friends there at my 5th birthday party in 1974! I was surprised to find out on the web that the parlour started in Portland, OR, since I am now in Seattle.

I was hired as a hourly employee with Farrells in Fayetteville, NC. Trained for Mgt. in Tysons Corner VA. Transfered from Fay. to Charlotte NC, promoted to store mgr. I also worked in Levittown PA , Media PA. and as a district manager in San Fran. CA. I really miss the employees I worked with. Those truley were the GOOD OLD DAYS.

Ah, Farrell's.... my sisters and i grew up in Nothern Virginia and remember our birthday parties at Farrell's in Springfield Mall. My one sister now lives in AZ and we have little girls 6 days apart... we were looking for a way to celebrate their birthdays this year and were hoping to find a Farrell's but it doesn't look like that is going to happen:(
