One day, a number of years ago, I was filling out a form of some sort. I came to a blank asking for my driver's license number. Without skipping a beat, I was able to fill it in - by memory (or "by heart", as the kids say.)
Shortly thereafter, I'd like to think that a whole new world of brainpower opened up for me... but really, it didn't. In this fashion, I found I also memorized my main bank account numbers - even though both were ridiculously long and followed no set pattern. I felt good not having to search for that info every time I signed a check. I dubbed it accidental memorization.
That is, I never intentionally tried to memorize my driver's license number (what great content that'd be!) but it just happened by seeing it so many times.
Has this ever happened to you? Did it surprise you? -pm
