This is a funny coinicidence- I teach 8th grade and on friday I got into a discussion in study hall with my assistant and the teacher who's room we were in about Lawn Darts. None of the students had ever played it before, and I said that's because they were banned in the mid 80's due to being declared a safety hazzard.

I also agree that they were banned because of dumbasses. The govt. has too much power in banning things because some dipshits abuse their use. I always thought survival of the fittest and natural selection were natural.

Three kids die from lawn darts, that's terrible. The product is no longer for sale in the U.S. Alcohol and tobacco is directly responsible for tens of thousands of deaths every year. Go America!

Oh yeah Lawn darts the ones we use to throw over the house and jump out of the way at the last second. Before Helments and knee pads were required to ride a bike. Some dipstick got Jarts outlawed. This year, the story on NPR was how lead-filled costume jewelry is killing lots of kids and/or getting them very ill. Do they outlaw costume jewelry? Nope. The ubiquitous "they" simply recommend not giving it to kids under age six.

So, of the thousands and thousands of Jarts made and safely used, a couple accidentally enter brain cavities in isolated incidents, now no one can have them?

17,000 people a year die in car wrecks. 500 are expected to die on the roads in the U.S. in heavy traffic just between Christmas and the New Year, not to mention how many will be injured, paralyzed and permanently handicapped. Do we take the cars away?

Wow, seems you really struck it with this ping, my neighbor had those a couple years ago and i was thinking about how dangerous they were when i saw the name of them in the recent comments. Well, his were like metal and covered in plastic at the tips so they were pretty heavy, i got hit in the shin once and it hurt, we were played right tho, we were using them to play x-dodgeball, that was an even better game, since no one had like a whole lot of the same balls we all just got to go to our house and got 5 "weapons" and had an everyman for himself battle, yea i think those were on the banned list after the incident tho. You would think that somebody would have come up with a comparable, yet acceptable, alternative to lawn darts by now. I was never a big fan of yarts because of the dangers of getting a steel spike through the skull but the concept of the game seems fun. I've searched some there aren't any comparable alternitives. Bean bags with tails, how boring. If something did come out to replace them Iwonder if it would catch on? Truly with all the dangers already present in this world, it would be terrible for a picnic or a family reunion to be broken up for a trip to the hospital or worst yet the morgue, because people are throwing steel spikes in the air.

Our set of Jarts is still available. Set includes 2 red Jarts, 2 blue Jarts, 1 red replacement fin (with a
small bit of tape on it), 1 blue replacement fin, 2 plastic rings. The
plastic rings have a few bands of grey tape on them, but I think they should be removable. (There is no tape at the actual connection point, so I'm not sure why the tape was necessary). Original box in good condition. Of course, these are for collectors and not for actual

I can't lie, I could not help but write after listening to the coments made about lawn darts. Lawn Darts, thats crazy, I would love a set. You guys are great. I would love to drop them from a super tall building on to a crowded street. I am not a very good shot with regular darts (although I love to play) but I bet from way up high with enough of those lawn darts I would hit something or should I say someone. I have a set of Franklin Yard Darts. Ok, well, now that I pull it all out of the box I see that I have 2 large white plastic target rings, 2 red Franklin Darts, 2 blue Franklin Darts (but one blue one is missing the screw on top to hold it together), 2 red Regent Darts, and 2 yellow Regent Darts.

Wow! 8 Darts total, and 2 target rings. All are in the Franklin box, and be sold as one set all together, or one complete set to one person and 4 extra darts to another person.

Funny... there is even the re-order form in the bottom of the box where you could re-order parts from Franklin, obviously that wouldn't work anymore! You could buy a fin for 50 cents. Or even the metal shaft w/ tip for just 60 cents.

I had a jart thrown at me by our 'bad' next door neighbors cousin. The whole rotton troup of bad-ass cousins would stay at this house the entire summer and terrorize us 'good' kids. Help! Lawn Dart players needed for documentary!

Hi everyone,
I'm a producer working on a documentary about Lawn Darts. We're looking for people to interview who still play lawn darts, info on lawn dart competitions, and people with lawn darts we can use to shoot B roll.

The project will be a fun, lighthearted look at Lawn Darts ( working title is "Lawn Darts: The Forbidden Game")

I have a set of vintage but in great shape Lawn Darts made by King co. I have the Darts targets, box and instruction/reorder form. The box and reorder form are a bit mouse eaten but in otherwise great condition. The fins are nice and soft and have never been left out in the sun.

I have a set of 4 JARTS (2 red and 2 yellow) slider JARTS with blunt metal tips in excellent condition. I also have 3 Superstar Super Darts (2 red and 1 yellow) one piece plastic darts with metal tips. Very good condition. E-mail me for pics and prices.

I have a set of YarDarts in the box with rings and my dad just picked up 6 darts at a yard sale.
Back in the good ol days my neighbors used to throw them at each other for fun, I was way to responsible and young to play with them, anyways just wanted to say they are still alive and healthy.
Thinking of selling the complete set of darts I have, any offers, What are they worth??
