I can't stand it when people say, "I listen to all types of music... except ___." It drives me nuts because I know that if I were to press them on the issue and name a few other genres, they'd respond, "Oh, well, yeah, I don't like ___ either." So go ahead, fill in the blank... "I listen to all types of music, except ___." I dare you. Comments

DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 9:37:58 am Mongolian goatherd ballads FROM: Chris DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 9:48:15 am rythmic cicada chiping - coming soon to a tree near you. FROM: Greg DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 9:58:22 am Gwen Stefani. :) FROM: David DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:39:17 am Lyrical Prophets, Laze, and Poetic as well as the popular "Year in Rap" series. Pretty much the whole UA catalogue. FROM: Cat [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:47:18 am There are certain types of music I don't enjoy in bulk (modern country, most rap, most hair metal), but even those have their exceptions that I love. But then I can listen to things (noise, ambient, trance) that make other peoples' ears bleed. FROM: Alex DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:52:01 am Anything by Slim Whitman FROM: Dave Walls [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:57:01 am You hit the nail on the head, Ryan. For almost every musical genre you "don't like", you can probably name one exception that you can tolerate or like. I'm not a country music fan, but I kinda dig Joe Nichols. Go figure. FROM: Mario500 [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 11:06:10 am ....."mainstream" music FROM: Chris DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 11:39:06 am So when Mario's favorite band sells 1 million albums - I guess he'll ditch them for being mainstream? FROM: Greg C DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 12:22:22 pm I think Mario means "pop" music. Pop isn't JUST Britney Spears, most "Today's Country" or "New Country", whatever they're calling it, is pop. Pop music with a twang and accent. Hell, some of it doesn't even have a twang OR an accent, it's just pop put out by some former country music singer, which is why they retain the market. FROM: Dave Walls [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 12:30:28 pm I remember reading a long time ago about Nirvana..one of their albums was gonna be named "Verse Chorus Verse", mocking "pop" music. Of course, Nirvana's stuff followed that format, so....go figure. FROM: Paul DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 4:07:44 pm And, Dave, one of their b-sides was actually titled "Verse Chorus Verse." Pretty good, as well. FROM: Robert [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 7:23:22 pm "Verse Chorus Verse" is no "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die." FROM: Matt DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 8:16:27 pm Anytime you ever see someone who says this shit it will either say country or rap 99% of the time. FROM: jk DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:27:50 pm .....bluegrass. FROM: Robert [E-Mail] DATE: Tuesday March 16, 2004 -- 10:59:37 pm Robert, if you were willing to spend some time on amazon or borrow a friend's CDs, I know I could tell you about some "contemporary" Christian music that you would not hate. [ . . . ] [Y]ou can't label all fans of Christian music in a certain way. FROM: Joseph DATE: Wednesday March 17, 2004 -- 9:30:52 am Going along with the conversation concerning "I listen to all types of music except (genre), except (particular piece within excepted genre)", I generally don't like polka, but I can't get enough of "Roll Out the Barrel." FROM: Robert [E-Mail] DATE: Friday March 19, 2004 -- 8:27:44 pm Joseph: I know that song only as done by the Andrews Sisters. It's a gem, yes. FROM: Ken DATE: Wednesday January 5, 2005 -- 10:42:05 pm I agree with dave, I typically dont listen to like orchestral music, but i could get into some good stuff, there isnt anytype of music that i actually cant stand. maybe. Like i like all types of song my mp3 has jay z/ linkin park, toby keith, simple plan, ludacris, jimmy wayne, shaggy, yea well you get the point. There aren't any comments here yet.
