CVS Characters

Last night I went into CVS at about 8:30pm to pick up some sports cream. As I walked towards aisle 10, I heard quite a commotion coming from that aisle and wasn’t exactly sure what I’d see. I approached cautiously. When I turned the corner I saw a woman looking at pain relief creams and a shirtless man jumping up and down yelling, “Grab anything… it hurts! Goddamn, this hurts like hell!” The woman grabbed various tubes of cream and sprays, rubbing them on his back to relieve what was apparently a very painful sunburn.

But it didn’t end there. Another customer suggested they try Solarcaine. He continued his hopping about, squirming like his skin was being poked with a million little daggers. I looked up at him and said, “Sunburn sucks, huh?” Needless to say, he was in agreement.

His girlfriend tried the Solarcaine, but it didn’t help. And by this point, they were worried they were putting too many different medications on. He wanted more, though, so he bolted to aisle 8, grabbed a package of paper towels, ripped them open, and told his girlfriend to start wiping the stuff off of his back. Shortly after, as his girlfriend was going to pay for the open paper towel roll and one of the pain relief creams, he came running past yelling, “C’mon, baby, let’s go! This is killing me! We’ve got to go the hospital!” She looked at him, sighed as he ran out the door, and left her purchases on the counter before following him to the car.

It was an interesting visit to the CVS. I’ll have to stop by more frequently, especially during the summer when sunburns are the most common.
