Drive-ins existed in New Jersey from 1933 until 1991, but quietly faded away and have been missing completely from the state for the last 13 years. But there's good news: a drive-in theatre has reopened in Vineland! With room for 700 cars and boasting one of the largest screens in the world, the Delsea Drive-In is bringing the outdoor theatre experience back to the Garden State. Personally, I'm looking forward to checking out a first run film and changing to a particular station in my car. The last time I was at a drive-in was in 1980 or 81 when I saw Superman II with my dad and cousin. It's one of those things that's disappeared over the years, but has a certain charm to it that a revival might be in order. Anyone have any particularly memorable drive-in experiences? Comments

DATE: Saturday July 31, 2004 -- 11:20:25 am I saw Star Wars as a kid at the drive-in. There was one in Atlanta, the boy was an infant and asleep in his car seat, so it must have been 95ish that I was last at one. FROM: dave DATE: Saturday July 31, 2004 -- 11:46:03 am I saw The Last Starfighter at a drive-in when I was eight. As a kid already hooked on video games, it was one of the coolest experiences of my life up to that point. FROM: Jacquie DATE: Saturday July 31, 2004 -- 12:53:32 pm The last one I vaguely remember was a 2for1. I can't remember the 1st movie but the 2nd movie was Flashdance. My mom wouldn't let us stay for that one. i think was about 5 or 6 at the time. FROM: Robert [E-Mail] DATE: Saturday July 31, 2004 -- 1:58:01 pm I missed out. As many movies as I've seen in my life I never saw one at a drive-in theater. In fact, I can't even remember ever seeing functioning drive-in theater. FROM: Robert [E-Mail] DATE: Saturday July 31, 2004 -- 4:40:06 pm Wow, I just found out there's a drive-in theater in PA near my little brother's new home. FROM: Dave Walls [E-Mail] DATE: Monday August 2, 2004 -- 12:08:24 am I was in Williamsport, PA last year, covering the Little League World Series. I was amazed how many drive in theaters there were for such a small town. I have never seen a movie on a drive in, but it looked very cool. FROM: Vince DATE: Saturday August 7, 2004 -- 11:21:00 pm Just went to the Delsea Drive-in last night, and it was great. As Kid, I remember seeing Mad Max there. Took the kids and saw the Village and Thunderbirds. FROM: Rafael DATE: Monday August 9, 2004 -- 11:39:32 am I remember going to the drive-in just about every weekend when I was growing up. I use to manage the Ridge Pike Drive-In in PA. Saturdays drew the most peoople. We had a snack bar that contained everything from Pop Corn to Cheese Burgers. We had a full kitchen. Those were the days. I have allot of Drive-In stories. I miss it.

Our favorite USED TO BE Haar's on Rt 15 in Dillsburg, PA; but, they won't let dogs in any more. Our new favorite is the Pike on Rt 15 just south of Williamsport, PA. Three screens, great (new) owners, creditable concession stand.
