We are still in America. Chicago, in fact.

It was a delicious Pepperidge Farm Pot Pie. Premium, even. Of course it was premium - it was from Canada!

Hmm, I have tried them but did not love them. I still like the ones served at Cracker Barrel each Wednesday for their lunch special. Uh--it's Wednesday--gotta go!

I recently ate Marie Callender's pie and thought it was excellent--probably rolls off the same production line as P.F. I'll check to others in the freezer to see if they're made in Canada.

I've also had Boston Market pot pies which are good, too.

A word of warning: pot pies are chock full of sodium. One serving, which is often less than one pie, gives you half or more of the sodium R.D.A.

These are not your mom's pot pies, though. Swanson, Banquet and Freezer-King still make the standard two-for-a-dollar pot pies, if you can stand them.

Those of us in Central PA know that the best tasting pot pies have lard in the crust.

It drives me nuts when I pick up a bag of those Kettle Chips, made in Hanover, PA (I think)... they're probably the only brand that use lard in them. They're the only plain chips I won't eat.

Pot pies aren't only loaded with sodium, but also fat, saturated fat, and cholestorol. I still keep a couple on hand, since they are one of the best foods available. I need to start making my own to cut back on the fat etc.

800 years ago in England they invented the pasty. Like in blackbirds baked in a pie. The Cornish mining engineers brought it to the Lake Superior area. Better than chicken pot pie it is the mother of all convenience foods.

I'm 'sort of' a displaced Canadian. For a good many years I lived on the NY/CDN (Ontario) border.

That being said, there's a lot I miss. And Scott, you CAN find HP sauce in the US (I also lived in Scotland for 5 yrs so know of what you speak).
