Well look they have done the Cherry Coke, Berry Pepsi, Vanilla Pepsi, they should do a Tomato Coke or a Green Beans Pepsi…now that sound yumm!!!

Just bring back the good old Tab in the pink can.

I sort of like the diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper.

Diet Coke with Lime, however, is liquid crack.

Diet and regular Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper are actually quite good. They don't taste dramatically different from Dr. Pepper but they add enough of a hint of flavor that it's subtle and yet appealing. When you oversaturate a soda with another "taste", it slowly starts to become less of a " + Pepsi or Coke or Dr. Pepper or Mt. Dew" and becomes more of something new. With regard to Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper... it's exactly as titled.

Lime Pepsi/Diet Pepsi and Lemon/Lime Coke/Diet Coke are just terribly nasty though. Vanilla Coke/Pepsi was subtle but I never saw much reason for it as it still didn't improve the taste. Not that improving the taste of Diet Coke is even possible. :-S ;-) I think I'd rather drink battery acid it's that heinous of a soda. Lime Coke when drinking it brings to mind... Pine Sol. Lemon Coke... Lemon Pledge. When you start to compare the taste of a soda to the smell of a cleanser... it's probably a bad thing. ;)

I liked Pepsi Blue beyond the fact that it truly didn't taste anything like Pepsi. Once you lost sight of that expectation from viewing the packaging to taste, it wasn't bad. Most Pepsi drinkers however expected a Berry Pepsi when it really tasted like... Berry soda. If there was a Pepsi taste, it wasn't much more than a "hint" of it. Quite frankly... I never really could taste the Pepsi taste it was that subtle.

I still think the best and most inventive of the new age sodas was dnL, the upside down caffeinated, green-colored, 7up product. It tasted nothing like a 7up, but it wasn't necessarily supposed to. It was much better than Surge which was like crossing a Mountain Dew with a Sprite/7up/Sierra Mist in terms of taste; which produced something of a bitter green carbonated/sugared mess than a desirable soft drink. dnL is like a Mountain Dew alternative with an altogether different taste rather than play the Mello Yello copycat syndrome. I found it quite pleasing although finding it of late has been rather difficult. I'm not sure if they've pulled the product or not. It'll be sad if and when they do.

My second vote is a tie between Mountain Dew Code Red and Mountain Dew Livewire. Code Red has more of a unique taste... whereas Livewire tastes like an orange soda with more kick (caffeine, most don't have it). Both are quite good though. My initial reactions to Code Red weren't that favorable... but the more I drank it the more appealing it became. Livewire was a hit with me from the start.

Mountain Dew Pitch Black (grape Mt. Dew, or effectively a hyper-sugared carbonated and caffeinated grape soda) doesn't work for me and next to Surge and the various attempts at flavored Coke/Pepsi (outside of Cherry; includes Lime and Lemon variants)... this might be the worst soda of the lot since Crystal (clear) Pepsi.

I can't believe you could care enough to type that much. I really like code red though, it is a neccessity at any sleep over. Pitch black isnt good either, I only had it once and i couldnt finish it. Lime drinks are not bad but lemon is.

For some people... the thought process and typing comes as a difficulty, especially on a more simulataneous level. That's not often my problem, obviously. ;)

I would caution anyone who drinks a lot of soda with caffeine to really get enough calcium, especially if you are younger like under 25 and still building bone mass. You should get at least 1000 mg a day, which Viactiv can help you with. I am very serious about this! I am in my 30s but have the bones of a woman in her 60s because I drank so much Coke as a teen. I am on some intense drugs to counter-act the bone loss. Caffeine and acid are not your friends, no matter how nice they seem to be.

I have this tendency to get caught up in other projects and all of a sudden I'll be like "The Ping... I forgot to check out The Ping!" and I'll come back. While I doubt it was several years it probably seemed like it with regards to my ping-activity being less frequent. With some of the online racing mods I help out with, it's not that hard to get caught up in projects in your free time. LoL I get recruited for new projects on an almost daily basis it seems. LoL

Ken's just not used to your style.

I constantly get asked "How do you do that?" and I have to explain that when you read a lot and learn to type fast (BBS scenes + Internet + AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc.); you also tend to learn to think a lot and fast and suddenly you find yourself relating things at point of thought. It's the whole "practice makes perfect." adage.

On a recent Ping, Ryan spoke of the BBS scene. I mentioned Raccoon Master on the post, and in a lot of ways talking to this young highly computer literate H.S. student from Herscher, IL (long since graduatedd and moved on to College, probably out by now); I literally picked up my typing skills from 30wpm to well over 80+ wpm just to keep up with him. It's a snowball effect.

I'm probably going to be in much the same boat. I turn the big 3-0 this August, and I'm already hobbling around like I'm 65. I do tend to get a lot of dairy from cheese (love it), but the fact is... I can't stand to drink milk. Then again I've been hit with a bit of a double whammy... too much calcium doesn't help out people with a history of kidney stones (a calcium build-up in itself).

I've been trying to cut back and shift to drinking something else. I like Iced Tea, and I can live without the caffeine in it unlike sodas where 9 times out of 10 if it lacks caffeine (I like 7up occasionally)... it's not for me. The problem of course is convenience. Home brewed iced tea tastes so much better than the bottled or canned stuff in-stores, and I don't care for mine with lemon like what is seemingly the tradition. Raspberry isn't too bad but most of what comes in a raspberry iced tea is just as bad for you as a soda in a lot of ways with the sugar, caffeine, etc.

Home brewed is much better, but it takes a lot of time to make it, it can get weak or funky in a couple of days (unlike soda which has the shelf life of a Twinkie, probably survive WWIII), and if you drink a lot of iced tea... you're spending as much or more time making it as drinking it. Otherwise there's bottled juices... which are either too acidic, too bland, or too expensive. Even regular Kool Aid, much to my dismay, has caffeine in it which blows my mind on how or why that would be the case (she's got some caffeine-free Kool Aid). With my grandmother being diabetic, you tend to find out things you'd otherwise never know. LoL

Why not market a Pepsi product that was one of LaVern's from the LaVern and Shirley show Milk Pepsi Now that sounds just yummy, but then again LaVern's taste wasn't so good with her style of dressing, was she afraid Shirley might steal her clothes so she marked them with those Big Letter L's

At the age of 55, I started getting kidney stones. Over the last four years I can say that drinking either Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper -- maybe no more than one or two a day for three or four days, results in a painful passage of kidney stones for me.

If you are having kidney stones and are drinking diet sodas, my advce is to swithc to bottled water if what come out of the tap tastes funky.
