Back in college some of the frat boys would take a road trip up to this place that sold really bad beer. You could get a 24-pack for $3. That's cheaper than soda!

It came in white cans with big black block letters that said "BEER". That was it. Completely generic looking.

I still have a can in the closet. It was almost undrinkable then, probably the many years have helped it to, erm, "age"...

In this neck of the woods (Northeastern NC), Natural Light reigns supreme. How that came to be or still is is way beyond my grasp.

I like beer. I like beers with flavor and character. I'd rather go without than drink the average yellow swill favored by the 'natives.'

I'll agree with Bud Light and raise it to anything Anheuser Busch (Bud, Bud Light, Busch, Busch Light). I can't drink anything from them as, to me, it not only lacks any form of taste from the beers I've drank (more watered down in taste), with exception to Michelob, but it gives me a migraine like no other beer I've had even if I don't drink more than 1 or 2. Michelob isn't so bad though (at least the Hefenweizen or however it's spelled wasn't), but I still avoid it. I've not tried Bud Select for the same reason, although it sounds like a good idea... I just find myself with a headache from whatever A-B beer I drink, regardless of brand.

Miller Lite, while not tasting all that great... is still far better and livable to me. I'd much rather drink something by Leinenkuegel's however (hard to get the full gamut of available beers even in my neck, I tend to prefer Leinie's Red and Berry Weiss) as it's probably my favorite American beer. I don't care much for Sam Adam's for whatever reason, it almost tastes like medicine to me although some swear by it, and despite being a Chicagoan... Goose Island doesn't really warm my cockles either. My favorite beer so far though might well be Hacker-Pschorr, which I tried at a Bohemian smorgasboard awhile back and found to be quite excellent. I tend to like Blue Moon a lot too, it has an almost creamy taste to it that with the usual slice of orange served with it... has a very smooth taste.

In as far as Milwaukee's Best, Schlitz, Old Style, Deadman's Ale, and the "Generic" beer (I've seen it before) mentioned above... I usually run into one or two bad beers a year while experimenting/trying new beers. Some I steer clear from just for the sake of knowing that it sounds like a recipe for disaster. I don't drink generic soda so generic beer is out. Milwaukee's Best I've heard all too many horror stories, the same with Natural Light and I.C. Light. I tried Deadman's Ale (I believe it was called) at Brixie's in Brookfield and it's very much a dark "stout"-style beer to me more than an ale, but compared to a Guiness or Sapporo Dark... I almost felt like I was trying to wolf down used motor oil than a beer. It's the *ONLY* beer I've ever not finished, actually left the half-filled pint on a table when I left it was that bad.

Biggest surprise to me was Tecate. For a cheaper Mexican beer, it wasn't too bad IMHO. I don't know that I'd go out of my way to get it, but I can think of a lot of beers I consider far worse in terms of taste.
