Your Bag

What type of bag do Pingers carry to work?

When I first started my job, I used my college backpack, but that eventually fell apart. These days I’m using something equally as raggedy. It’s a messenger bag that a co-worker had gotten at a conference and left out for the taking. I’ve covered up the corporate logo with 15 or so propaganda pins. The latches that hold the shoulder strap in place have broken and are taped up with clear tape. Not exactly high class, but it’s functional.

Since I work from home – no bag is required. When I do go into the office, I have my laptop bag.

I think I remember your bag from Webvisions, but howzabout a photo so we can judge you based on propaganda?

A knife bag. I have in it ten knives ranging from a 2½” paring knife to a 10″ chef knife as well as a thermometer, chopsticks (great for stirring in nonstick pans), wine opener and a few garnishing tools.

Before this line of work it was a rip-stop nylon aviation helmet bag complete with my “I’ve been there” pins from I can’t remember how many countries.

I have a three-year-old eBags grey messenger bag that I use pretty much daily. It’s a tad unfashionable and I think about replacing it now and then but, it’s doing its job just fine.

Either my laptop bag, or my Circa 2003 Strong Bad messenger bag.

I like my bags to be prepared to go “crazy-go-nuts”.

Douche bag. . . no just kidding! I carry a back pack to the office, sometimes I wonder why I carry it in the first place. Half of the time I don’t use most of the crap I carry. Shit I’m sure I don’t even know what I’m caring.

This might be a good opportunity to take inventory, let us see what is in my man purse:

Back (big) Pouch
– umbrella
– book: Blackwater Sound by James W. Hall
– nylon rope (59ft x ¼), I know for a fact that it has been in by bag for well over a year and a half. . . don’t ask
– leather gloves
– hand sanitizer 2 oz bottle
– hair shampoo 2 oz bottle
– an old bus schedule
– water 16.9 oz bottle
– about six crumpled up Bartell’s Drugs bags, I luv to use those bags as liners because they hold up to kitty po X 3 times

Front Pouch
– 2 pens one blue and one black
– 1 pad of orange posted notes 3 X 3, man those come in very handy last time I used one was like a month ago, I passed it a guy on the bus while coming into the office. It read “Dude you might want to zip your fly up”. By him turning bright RED was thanks enough.
– laminated emergency contact numbers for all my fellow co-workers
– puffs tissue packed
– first aid kit for cuts, scrapes and boo-boos, my company held a health expo last year and this was from GroupHealth
– a small baggie containing 3 LifeStyles ultra sensitive thin lubricated latex condoms and 1 lubricant pillow. My motto is better safe then sorry, you never know when an un-expected opportunity may come up (no pun intended)
– Art guide booklet for the Northwest
– another bus schedule
– 3 Mapquest directions print outs
– Louis Vuitton check book
– Louis Vuitton business card holder
– Louis Vuitton key chain/coin change pouch combo, I have been meaning to drop that one off for over 3 years to have the zipper fixed.
– 3 books of matches
– container of Tums
– Treo 700 cell phone
– box of smokes
– phone headset
– Lubriderm hand lotion 1 oz bottle
– 4 lighters
– container of Carmex lip balm
– 3 cologne tester samples
– Smoke Away natural homeopathic medicine container
– dental tape
– so that is where my money clip has been for the last past three weeks, that is how long I have been looking for it, dang too bad no bucks on it
– car keys
– found a hand full of change at the bottom of the pouch but it is all nasty covered in gum. A stick or a few of gum must have gotten loose and made it to the bottom along with the change.

I’m surprised that I did not find any paper clips or foil from breath mints, however I did find a lot of tabacco flakes.

Added the following items that I will take home:
– a box of ThermaCare heatwraps
– face scrub for men, by Sensaria

Does anyone know how to remove gum from coins? I tried hot water and it made it worse. Someone here at the office recommended alcohol. Hmmm, to drink or for the coins???
