Last night I went out to see a friend spin at a club in DC and I realized that, wow, I am freaking old because:
1. I couldn't remember the last time I'd been to a club or a show. b. I had to take a nap because things didn't start until 10pm. III. Even though I essentially held up the wall most of the night, I was still way tired by about 1. It was a good time and I even got to see Pinger Matt for the first time in a year, but at 31, I think I'm pretty well ready to defer myself to old fogey status. Don't get me wrong -- I've never been a big club-goer, but I would see a few shows a year. These days, it's one a year, if I'm lucky. Comments

My old fogey status manifests itself in my inability to be around smoke. I used to go see bands 3 or 4 nights a week. I must have had some tolerance to it but now I cannot stand more than 2 hours of it.
One day when smoking is banned in bars, I will be out there again. Some bars in State College have smoke-free nights and apparently they are well-attended. Tangent-thought: the Lemonheads are playing at a bar in State College tomorrow night but I can't go.

Nick and I said we'd go out a lot more now that Madison has a smoking ban (yaay!). We do go out more, but it's to 2-3 shows/year rather than 1. We saw Cougar a couple weeks ago, it was a 9pm show and we didn't get home until 1 and were sooooo tired! I don't know if this is another sign of our 30-year-old fogeyness or just how they do the sound here, but we've also complained, pretty much everywhere we've gone to in MSN, that they have the bass up <u>way</u> too high, it seems really unbalanced.

You have a daughter and a dog now. Your responsibilities used to just be matching your socks and buying milk. I always get tired at shows too, and I get plenty of rest and exercise. Great seeing you though man!
