Just about seven years ago I wrote about
how much i enjoyed MAD TV. The unfortunate thing is that perhaps 2 months after said Ping, I thought the show took a wrong turn off the cliff of tastefulness and became, well, awful.
I sincerely hope that isn't the case with
Psych. The Wife and I caught a number of episodes of this show last season (its first) and thought it was pretty good; we then saw a few before the second season's premiere and realized that we
really liked this show.
It's a solid combo of a procedural and a buddy sitcom/drama/thing. It involves
a fellow, Shawn, who's pretending to be psychic while solving cases with his pal Gus. The writing on the show is really solid and believable, the characters are portrayed perfectly, and they make fun of Prince. (How bad can it be?!)
In a recent episode, Shawn and Gus were talking with Lassiter, a straight-laced Niles Crane type:
Lassiter: We found prints.
Shawn: Was he driving a Little Red Corvette?
Gus: Under the Cherry Moon?
Lassiter: Fingerprints.
Better still, I saw an older episode with
another prints/Prince joke. Any show that goes after the quick homophone gag is a winner with me.
Psych is definitely worth your time, and in my estimation it's one of the better shows on TV.
