For a while now The Wife and I have talked about getting rid of our DVD collection. We're continuing our inevitable march towards no physical media for movies and music. But it's not just about that; it's more like, "We don't watch these, so why keep them?" Outside of initial viewings of things we almost never rewatch these movies. So they're just taking up a shelf when they could be doing something better, like entertaining random people across the country.
Yesterday we went through all of our DVDs (and a few remaining CDs) and listed them on Amazon's Marketplace. You know - the "390 used and new from $0.75" deal. Then we finished up a few errands around the house before heading out for the day. From the time we listed the items and left the house - a matter of a couple of hours - we had already sold three things.
By mid-afternoon we'd sold four more. And at the end of the evening, we sold three more!
And sure, we're not exactly becoming Bill and Melinda Gates with this newfound income but hey, it's definitely better than having them sit around and do nothing.
Naturally we're now addicted to checking our email to see the latest "Sold, Ship Now" missives from Amazon. Anyone want the movie Man on the Moon?
