I don’t consider myself an autograph collector, but when I look at the number of things I have signed, it seems like I may have become one without even realizing it. In our family room, we have a wall of album covers and photos that I’ve gotten signed over the years by musicians, comedians, and actors. It’s a pretty decent little collection. In addition, I have a bunch of CD covers signed that I just haven’t gotten framed yet. Most of them are ones I’ve gotten myself in person (and are personalized since I don’t plan on ever selling them), but a few have been purchased online, like a great set of Golden Girls autographs my wife got me as a birthday gift one year.
In terms of books, I’ve got a few (some catalogged here), but not a whole lot. Most of the books that I’ve gotten signed are from authors that I know, versus my music autographs which come from a mixture of people I know and people I’ve just met once at a concert or something.
There’s one random autograph I’m excited about getting from a semi-obscure former horror actor from the mid-80s. I found out the name of the business he owns and learned that he happily signs stuff that’s sent to him (with a SASE, of course!). I’ve got an original movie poster and a promotional photo I’ll be sending his way before too long.
Also, I’ll be going to a horror convention (NERD!) later this month and hope to stock up on a few nifty autographs there.
Any other autograph hounds in the audience?

When we were kids, my brother wrote to Sesame Street and got Frank Oz’s autograph.
At some point in the 1980s, my dad ran into Bert Convy (hi Dave Walls!) and thought he was Robert Reed and asked for his autograph for me.
When I was 18, my most prized autograph was that of Tommy Tune.

I got Jerry Rice’s autograph cuz I saw him in a club one time. I also have a Buffy the Vampire Slayer poster (from the musical episode) that a friend had the entire cast sign – she works in the industry.
I may have a couple of other ones here or there, but I’m not big into them. I only want them if I met them or if someone asked for them on my behalf. The Buffy ones are personalized to me so that’s nice. Not really into just buying them – doesn’t seem as special to me. Just my opinion.
Also not that interested if I know the people. I work in a sport where I could get them all the time, but why – I see these people all the time.
