The Daily Ping

The Ping is self-aware.

Shhhhhh!

As a kid, I remember going into the library and as soon as I crossed through the doors, it was whispering-only. If someone spoke in a regular voice, it sounded like someone was shouting.

Nowawdays, though, people may speak in slightly hushed tones in a library, but it’s really rare to hear anyone whispering anymore. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it a bad change or does it not matter anymore?

I’m a little late here. The pings got backed up in my reader. As a librarian/library employee before that for the past twenty years, I’ve seen the change first hand. No one gives a crapola about anyone else anymore. And as much as I want to say, “indoor voices,” that won’t stop the cell phones. S’ok, I won’t be _that_ bitter when I retire in 10-15 years.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
