I watched SBTB too, ever since day one in fact. I remember it debuted on an NBC prime time special introducing the new Saturday morning lineup (remember when there were cartoons and kids' shows on Saturday mornings?!)

Anyway, Ryan, what's your thought on "The New Class"? I think they stink. Screech is but a shadow of his former self.

I actually started watching pretty late in the game -- when I was babysitting as a summer job, we'd always watch SbtB, but I never actually saw it during its original run.

One thing about Ox I dug was that he totally changed personalities -- he was a punk-type thug and then he all of a sudden became a football jock.

My thoughts on "The New Class"... pretty weak in general, but their current lineup isn't bad (though this is their last season). However, I have trouble getting through a full episode because Screech is just way over the edge -- way too intense. He sounded fine during "The College Years", but for whatever reason, when he went back to Bayside to work, the writers had him take his personality too far to the extreme. Maybe it was the severe mental anguish caused by not being able to marry Lisa.

One of my all-time favorites. I want to hang the "Zack and Kelly's
Prom" banner up in my cube at work.

10.5: "House Party"

Is this the one when Screech's parents are at Graceland? I remember
something about the Elvis statue breaking, Tori Spelling is Screech's
pseudo-girlfriend, and the gang tricking the mean, rich kid into
kissing Screech's dog. Have I mixed up many episodes?

11.1: "The Last Dance"

Notice the circular closure as they break up at the same park bench
from "The Prom".

M.6: "The Last Weekend"

Denise Richards! That's who that was. I remember her being really
hot. She still has the same acting ability now that she did then.

12.9: "The Senior Prom"

Watch those thumbs!


You can't forget the "What I should have said" Theatre, where Zack and
Slater have to make up to Kelly and Jesse for various transgressions.
Although there's not a lot of dancing, you do get to see Slater prance
around in a tu-tu.

Also, what about the "Battle of the Sexes" during the Tori years?

I remember that the check would be presented at a dance. The problem was that no one was dancing because the girls were pissed at the guys for cheating during the baking competition.
(And poor Screech had to swallow the oven knob to destroy the evidence).

Yessir -- certainly a classic episode. And the character who they made kiss the dog was Nerdstrom (who was nowhere near as good looking as Melvin Nerdley, from a previous episode).

And you know, I realized I left out a bunch of the Junior High episodes -- there was an epsiode where Zack fought with Mikey...

Which one was it where Zack and Slater nearly come to blows? (Kelly's 16th?) They are all at the Max and Zack and Slater each pour punch down each other's shirts. Then Mr. Belding prevents their fighting only to have his new toupee fly off and land in the punch bowl.

I think there was _supposed_ to be dancing at the Max.

The funnist part is the little bock-rock move that Slater does when Zack pours the punch down the back of his shirt.

Thanks for the reminder. I was thinking about the episode with "the new girl", but not in relation to the fighting. What a great episode that was. Slater shows up at Zack's house with a leaf blower, kicks it in reverse and suck's up the paper Zack and "new girl" were trying to study. Then Zack gets Slater by hiring some lady to ruin his movie date with "new girl" by pretending to be Slater's mother, whose birthday her rotten son has forgotten. IIRC, Slater gives Zack a pretty good shiner in the fight in the hallway.

Ahh, the SBtB memories keep flooding back. I might have to go buy a TV just so I can watch these golden re-runs...

I can't remember the name of the Buddy Band competitor either. I thought it had the word "friend" in it, but then I'm probably mixing it up with "Friends Forever" from Zack Attack.

See though, the genius in "Buddy Bands", what a great product name. Years later, I can still recall it, but not it's competitor. Brilliance in branding and marketing.

Maybe Zack and Kelly applied what they learned about subliminal messages to their Buddy Bands advertising campaign.

I wouldn't want to go up against Zack Morris when it comes to sales and advertising. After seeing what he put together to liquidate Lisa's wardrobe (automatic locker door-opener clothes displays and all), his marketing genius is evident.

My favorite SbtB episode? Hard question!
I think the Fake IDs one is special in my heart because it was the first one I'd ever seen. And who wouldn't enjoy the cameo appearances made by Casey Kasem throughout a few seasons. But if I had to pick one, it would probably be the one where Jessie has an emotional breakdown from the pressure of being in a dance show with Lisa and Kelly: "I'm so excited, I'm so excited, I'm....so.....SCARED!" Every time I see that one, I pretend to be the announcer at an award show..."And the Emmy goes to Elizabeth Berkeley of SbtB for her portrayal of a distressed teen dancer in the scene, 'I'm so excited'"

Sorry, I misread the question about favorite DANCE episode. Actually, my original answer still qualifies because it involves dancing, although not an official Bayside High School dance. I think if I had to pick a Bayside dance, I'd choose the costume dance where Slater was dressed as an astronaut and Screech was Gumby (I think) and they kissed, thinking each was someone else. Screech was not on the wheels of steel at this shin-dig but it was still a good ep.

Tough one, there are many contenders. "The Masquerade Ball" is quite funny, and "The New Girl" had us arguing as to whether Tori was really hot or not (Leather jackets no being very form fitting, unlike Kelly's outfits). But, my favorite has to be "Zack and Kelly's Prom". Zack showed his true super-mack skills in overcoming all the obstacles to
score some sweet picnic bench action.

My least favorite: "The Last Dance," where they break up. That Jeffrey Hunter dude (played by Patrick Muldoon) was such a a cheesey college pretty-boy. It was an insult that Kelly would dump Zack for that dipwad. Come on, Melvin Nerdly was better than that dude.

Kinda odd how Muldoon and Denise Richards both make guest appearances on SBtB and years later they are an item. Any other SBtB connections?

It's a tough call, but the Screech-Slater make-out scene at the Masquerade Ball always makes me laugh...

As far as SbtB connections, I can't think of any offhand (and didn't know the Denise Richards-Muldoon one), but how many people noticed the soon-to-be Bailey Salinger's bit part on several episodes? He *never* had a speaking part, but Scott Wolf had a fair amount of on-screen time, most notably as part of the glee club (the one with Tori Spelling as Violet Bickerstaff, Screech's temporary diversion from Lisa).

There was a guy who, every time, shrugged his shoulders and clapped, as if he just went along with everyone else. Was that Scott Wolf too....

I never noticed the "Shrug and Clap" -- I will have to wait until the Ms. Bayside episode (one of the lesser-played ones) comes back around. I've always enjoyed when Slater says something and then does some sort of strange body movement or mumbles something to lead you to believe he's very uncomfortable in his role (example -- remember the episode during the Tori season where there's an earthquake and he has to kick the door in to Mr. Belding's office? Right after the door he does one of his moves -- a "goddamn, I'm cool" type of move...)

Yes! That scene where Slater kicks down the door to free Belding and Screech from Belding's office is classic. More impressive that he can execute such moves in flip-flops and a towel.

What ever happened to Belding's kid? Never mentioned again. I guess the "Zack Morris is the son I never had" from the subliminal messages episode no longer applies.

Ryan, I know exactly what you mean about Slater. He would always pinch the front of his shirt (about 2 buttons down) and pull it forward then let go. He usually would be mumbling something and looking to the side when doing it.

One of my personal favorite episodes besides the Zack Attack one is the one where they are all at the mall and hide there thru the night. They are trying to get tickets to U2 I think and then they find the money. That is definately a classic, actually every episode is.
Ryan by the way Watkins loved my intro to my article that contained the Saved By the Bell Reference to Zack investing in crappy stock with his classes' money to make money to fix his dad's video camera. I think I won for best lead of the week, actually I was told that I won for best lead this week too. :)

Since these were high school kids, they should have done an episode where Zack and AC bring their chicks to an illegal warehouse rave where they face the temptations or E and shrooms. It could be far more true-to-life than that sissy episode with the actor who does anti-pot commercial.


Furthermore, don't you love the fact that Elizabeth Berkley went from the stereotypical "feminist" to ex-crackwhore stripper Naomi in "Showgirls"? I think that might be the single most important factor contributing to my love for that movie.

Yep, Slater was *supposedly* moving to Hawaii and they threw this big Hawaii-themed party for him. A snippet from it is in the opening credits: Slater is sitting on the throne and points to himself with his thumbs. He's got shades on IIRC.

It's been a while since I've seen that episode, but I figured that having such a party, especailly at The Max, there just *had* to be music.....and dancing.

Another old dance episode of sbtb was when Bayside High graduate Stevie the rock star came back to sing her final concert before retiring to go to college. Stevie was going to pick one guy from Bayside to kiss on stage. Zach made a bet that he would be the one and had Lisa fill him in on all the things that Stevie liked. He told her he was dying and that it was his last request to kiss her on stage. It was found that he was lying and Screech was chosen. After being kissed Screech danced and during the whole song Stevie danced.

I am an avid sbtb fan, always have been, always will be. Speaking of dancing, I ask you to recall the "Senior Social" I believe is what is what called, where Lisa wants to go with Darren, that is until she finds out that he's a freshman. Zack and Slater on the otherhand fight over the new girl and actually fight. Also, recall when the gang "with Torrie" dressed up as the "Five Aces" and sang "Come go with me" There was dancing there and Zack got together with Slater's sister. I don't really remember any other dancing episodes, except of course for the dance video that "Hot Sundae" did and thee was the talent show where Jessie dressed as a butterfly, and recited a poem dancing around like a fool. However, Screech was crowned the winner for his magic.

By the way Dustin Diamond was in Memphis TN. this past weekend at Jerry Lawler's Memphis Pro-Wrestling group. He is involved in an angle where he is obsessed with the Kat(ms. Kitty.)
This is my feelings to further this angle and make it the best SBTB/Pro-Wresting thing ever. Have Mr. Belding who just recently took a position at University of Tennessee at Chatanoga come to Memphis to save Screech from his obsession. Then he can take Screech to UT and he can be his annoying sidekick for 4 more years.

It's my opinion that Zack's most humbled moment is when Kelly's little sister tells him off -- with the absolutely scathing truth.

wow, what an awesome site. first of all, i'm not sure if this was mentioned, but the episode of "cut-day" had some dancing in it when they were at the beach. you might also remeber that episode as the one where Zach was in the protest with Jessie and her new friend Graham. that is also where Jessie and Slater decided to see other people.
One of my favorit episodes is where they have the school play be "Snow White" as a rap. Which also remindes me, when Zach had to be in the ballet in order to get enough credits to graduate, there was some dancing. I think it was called "Swan Pond."
I could go on forever, as I am a HUGE fan, but I just want to leave you with this:

And by the way, regarding your never entirely resolved discussion about the Buddy Bands: The product they were originally selling was friendship bracelets ("Friendship Forever"). Lisa and the Fashion Club made them to sell, but when Zack wanted to be president of the team, Jessie got mad because she was supposed to be president. She, Kelly and Slater split from the group to market Buddy Bands. Lisa was working way too hard so she and Screech also left. (And by the way, I like this exchange: Lisa: "Screech, are you ready to go re-join the human race?" Screech: "You always said I wasn't a member." Lisa: "I'll sneak ya in.")
So then Zack went out of business, bought a Buddy Band, gave it to Mr. Belding to sabotage the Buddy Band business, and the group made up, combining Buddy Bands and friendship bracelets to make Love Cuffs.

I am quite impressed with the level of Saved by the Bell knowledge the posters to this forum posess. My favorite episodes of all time include, the Buddy band one, the ROTC jocks versus geeks one, and the one with the Russian chess champ competing against Screech. I have written detailed summaries of these episodes as part of an episode guide on my site http://www.movieprop.com/tvandmovie/savedbythebell/

I also noticed something interesting in one of the early Saved by the Bell the New class episodes in which the "Zack" like character thinks he can get into a movie free by being in costume. He is in a costume from the V TV series (a 83-85 NBC show).

I looked at the costume on TV and noticed that it was indeed an original costume from the V TV series of so long ago. It was interesting to me anyhow since I myself have a large collection of things originally used in V.

I haven't seen really any prop or costume related items used by the Saved by the Bell actors on the market in the last 2 years but I did personally help sell an outfit worn by Elizabeth Berkely in Showgirls.

Anyhow I thought perhaps some of you might find this of interest and perhaps find my site of interest. I have submitted my saved by the bell site to the Open Directory Project and hope that it might be considered for addition there as well.

Actually, the Zack/Lisa relationship didn't end, per se, in that episode. Zack intended to break it off because it was causing a rift between him and Screech and Screech wanted to fight Zack for stealing Lisa. (I think this episode involved Screech ripping Zack's shirt open in the hall. I may have confused that, however, with the fight between Zack and Slater. Either way, that part was particularly lame, in my opinion.)
Anyway, when Lisa found out Zack wanted to break it off because of Screech, she got mad at him for being so possessive, and he basically gave them his blessing to be together, and they decided to continue dating.
After that, the relationship wasn't continued by the writers, but it was never officially ended either.

I liked the California Dreams episode where Matt sings the song "everyboy's got some on e but me" and the group wins for the best video because Matt and Jenny's younger brother video taped the song without Matt knowing it... it was stupid when they showed all the different camera angles for the video when his younger brother was hiding in that trash can the whole time !!

My favorite SbtB is a tough one because there are so many. But I love the pants Slater always wore.. those black stone washed and the white stone washed with the two straps for the belt in front... not to mention his mullet!

I can't believe I have forgotten to mention this story for SO LONG! When I was a sophomore in college, one of my neighbors in the dorm worked with Mr. Dewey's sister. I believe Mr Dewey taught math and drivers ed on SBTB. My RA and I were both huge fans of the show, so when it came time to have Hawthorne Hall's yearly Pig Roast (hmmm, can you tell I went to school in rural Wisconsin?) we wrote a fan letter to Mr. Dewey and asked him to be our guest of honor. Sadly, he never responded.

I think that is a quality SBTB story.
