As for the "8" on his necklace, don't even TELL me he wore that for Eight is Enough. I remember reading an issue or two of Bananas, though.

Rex Smith rules. I remember him fondly from the wonderful Knight-Rider-on-a-motorcycle show Street Hawk, the movie version of The Pirates of Penzance, and the incredibly cheesy movie Headin' For Broadway.

I recognized Willie Aames immediately. "Eight is Enough" was/is a great show however I must admit that Adam Rich was my favorite cast member. Incidently I once saw Dick Van Patten when I was on vacation with my family in 1986. He was learning how to scuba dive in the hotel swimming pool (in full scuba gear of course-when he took of his mask I recognized him). I had never heard of "Bananas" nor did I know who Rex Smith was until I read Rob's post, apparently I have been missing out. However, I think you are stretching the truth and this magazine was not located in your basement but rather on your nightstand. Honestly this frightens me considering I know about your Willie Aames obsession. Didn't you guys have lunch last week?

Here's my weird Eight is Enough connection:

There was a girl a year ahead of me in high school named Shana Hiatt. She went on to be a Hawaiian Tropic girl and appeared in Playboy during my freshman year in college. She went on to be in the Playboy video The Girls of Hawaiian Tropic. She then married Dick Van Patten's son and is now Shana Hiatt-Van Patten.

Scott -- It's all about Willie Aames. As far as I'm concerned, if he ran for president, I'd vote for him. As long as he wore the "8" on his necklace during his debates.

That is a way more interesting Dick Van Patten story. I did not realize that being a Van Patten enabled you to come in contact with Hawaiian Tropic Models. I bet Dick Van Patten still gets all the ladies.

Ryan, In the 2000 election I actually wrote in Willie Aames as my candidate. I requested that should he win Adam Rich be named Vice President and Dick Van Patten Secretary of State. All other "Eight Is Enough" cast members would be eligible for other cabinet positions.

Once again I am in error. I mistakingly thought the "8" was in reference to his stellar television career. Thanks to Corey I have been able to recognize the error of my ways and now recognize Mr, Aames to be a genius. Thank you Willie for discovering infinity.

The that character, in that position, is clearly an eight, and not infinity. The eight probably stands for "eight ball," as in the street name for an eighth ounce of cocaine (learned that one from rich kids in the know at fancy private University). Freakin' blow head. Who knew? His acting was so great--the drugs didn't affect it at all!
