Family Feud Revisited

I saw some clips of Karn's FF on the latest installment of The Most Outrageous Game Show Moments last night.

To me, FF is all about the set. Anything remotely "modern" kills the mood. Same thing happened to Card Sharks when Bob Eubanks became host.

Think about it, though -- all the best game show sets came from the late 70's/early 80's (Card Sharks with Jim Perry, Tic Tac Dough with Wink Martendale, The Joker's Wild with Jack Barry, and Family Feud with Richard Dawson... the sets were distinctive. These days, all the sets try too hard to be Millionaire...

Speaking of millionaire, I wonder if tis easier to get on that show now that the hype has died down? I still think its the easiest 32K you'll ever make. You have to be a frigging idiot to not get at least that far.

I don't like Richard Karn at all, I never did. He tries too hard to shed his old Al persona from Home Improvement that he just comes off as an asshole.

Now as far as millionaire is concerned, my friend's brother went on the show at the height of its popularity. He got to the $500 question, which was "What are fedoras traditionally made of?"

Not only did he not know the answer and have to leave in disgust of missing a $500 question, but he forgot the answer, and of course, I don't know it either.

So much for that million bucks.

Supposedly the guy who created millionaire is working on a new show where the prize is $1B. Pepsi is the primary sponsor, but in the article I read on imdb, they said $1B is more than Pepsi's yearly operating budget.

A Billion-Dollar Game Show?


There are few details, no confirmation, and the whole concept has the ring of a hoax, but numerous publications today are picking up a report that appeared in Daily Variety on Monday claiming that Who Wants to Be a Millionaire creator Michael Davies is developing a game-show special for The WB in which the top prize would be $1 billion. According to the report, the two-hour live event would be produced with Pepsi-Cola. One billion dollars is more than the entire annual operating profit of Pepsi-Cola North America.

Hey, creepy or not, Richard Karn is still 100 times better than Louie Anderson, who always looked like he was teetering between committing suicide and swallowing a Waffle House WHOLE.

Paul, do you realize you're throwing Ryan a softball when you do these game show Pings?

Let me break down my views on the hosts
Richard Dawson- creepy pervert. Always trying to cop a feel off of all the broads. I like when he makes out with women while their husbands look on.
Ray Combs- The one I grew up with. Definately my favorite.
Louie Anderson- Only saw him host for about a year. That was a year too long. Had horrible reading and question delivering abilities.
Richard Karn- Much better than Louie. Does a decent job, and he can read also!

loiue anderson was like a whiny, gap-toothed jabba the hutt with a persian cat daintily balanced atop his thick head. The sad thing is... I actually enjoyed his 'life with louie' cartoon that was on a few years ago. Pretty funny.

Ah, what can I say?
Karn's Feud is a definate improvement over Mr. Anderson's Feud, but just think if it was like this.

---WORST CASE SCENARIO---

-The Set is Totally Green

-Fast Money Jackpot is still $5000

-The Face/Off Buzzers make the "Face the Devil" wind-up sound effect

-Whenever someone performs the secret slime action or gets a strike their whole family gets slimed

-There are questions such as "Name another word for Bill Clinton's wang"

Just be thankful for what we do have. And remember, there's always classic Feud on Game Show Network.

Umm...would you rather he kissed the men?

I will say that there was a difference in the way he kissed hot women and the grandma's and fat women...but seriously, Richard didn't discriminate. He should have, in some cases, but hey, that's our Richard Dawson: Game Show Stud of the 70's.

Richard Karn is perfectly fine.
He is 1000 times better than poor old Louie Anderson....two tons of NOT having fun!
Seriously, Anderson absolutely HATED doing that show....could he have made it any more obvious?
You could tell by the look on his face which screamed "I'm going to kill my agent for getting me this crappy gig!".
And that voice...Jesus, he sounded like as if Cartman from South Park was hosting the Feud!!

Richard Karn is one of the best things to happen to television in a very long time. Be it Home Improvements or Family Feud.

I am simply overwhelmed that he is leaving Family Feud, and that pompous ass John O'Hurley is taking his place. I can't even believe it!!!!!!!!!

Louie Anderson was better than John will be. John's got an ego problem. Louie's just sweet. And Richard Karn? THE best. Richard Dawson had to kiss everyone 300 times. Ray Combes was so messed up he killed himself. What a loss! One really funny guy! Louie is just sweet. Richard Karn? Funny, energetic, and involved. He's entertaining and is doing really well. John O'Hurley is full of himself, and wants to be the next Bob Eubanks.

Someone tell me how I can reach Richard!!!!!!!!!

I love Richard Karn and would like to know why he is leaving the show.
Will he be in anything else soon? Richard Dawson was fine the the
time that he was on the show, lots of people in that time period were trying
to be more open than in times past and maybe that was just he way. The
two Richards were my favorites. I don't think I can watch with the new
host.
