One of the creepiest commercials I've seen in a while comes courtesy of
Nobel Biocare, "The Tooth Fairy for Adults." The commercial starts off referring back to an apparent previous commerical that one is expected to have seen (but I doubt many of us have) where a business man has dropped his entire set of dentures into his drink at a business meeting. And then, a woman is at her wedding and flashes a quick smile, exposing her two terribly yellowed and gnarley looking front teeth admidst a set of otherwise normal teeth. Both talk about how Nobel helped them with their dental problems.
The thing is, that a guy dropping his teeth in a glass and a woman with two comically yellow teeth in a mouth of otherwise fine teeth should be funny. But, it turns creepy when it's actually played seriously. There's no tongue-in-cheek humor here, they were being serious.
Their dentist search box may also be the only search box on the web with a drop down that allows you to choose "one tooth missing," "several teeth missing," or "all teeth missing." When we get the search box for the Ping back up and running, I suspect we'll have the same drop-down box.
