An Abbreviation That Needs to Die, Now

“MSM”, or “mainstream media”. It’s easily the dumbest, lamest abbreviation out there right now – and there are some whoppers, too. But MSM? It sounds like some Microsoft product crossed with a portable Sony gaming device.

(As an aside, it’s not an acronym – acronyms spell other words. Like “radar”. Unless you can figure out a way to pronounce “MSM” and not sound silly.)

This is the first time I've seen/heard that abbreviation. Am I looking in the right or wrong places?

I kind of like that abbreviation. I mean, they're all called ABC,CNN,NBC etc. and they are all pretty much the same. May as well reduce them all to a single abbreviation and forget all the rest. Being a programmer, I think of it as refactoring my mind for better usage of memory and higher efficiency ;)

I actually came up with a better acronym to describe the mainstream media.

Crap.

Common reporting and pandering.

Brilliant!
