Pickles on Sandwiches

I’m not sure what they ever did to me, but I’m not a huge fan of pickles. I don’t mind them really, but I don’t seek them out and if they’re an option for me, I’ll usually leave them out.

However.

There are two fast-foody sandwiches that I will eat with pickles, because I’m convinced the pickle adds to the whole experience.

First is the obvious White Castle. Sliders without pickles are strange, almost as strange as dressing them with ketchup and/or mustard. Well… maybe not that strange. But the pickles give the sandwich a little more texture and bite, and that’s important.

The other is Chick-Fil-A, also known as the store I’ll drive 75 miles for. A Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich needs the pickle there. It just does.

Are there any other sandwiches that require a pickle? Be honest.

I love Chick-Fil-A sandwiches (too bad they keep getting smaller and smaller). Not only do I ask for extra pickles, but extra mayo too. Ohhh YUM!

I order my Chick-Fil-A sandwiches sans pickle.

Chick-Fil-A is crack on a bun with a pickle on top.

I remember reading an interview with Jeff Foxworthy a few years back, where he described growing up near the Dwarf House in GA< which is the original Chick-Fil-A. To paraphrase, Chick-Fil-A is so good, if you put a sandwich on top of your head, your tongue would beat you to death. I totally agree with that. Back to the pickles..The only sandwiches I can stand them on is Chick-Fil-A or homemade burgers off the grill. Other than that, leave them off. I am still in need of a White Castle experience, for better or for worse..I gotta find one!

I make my own sandwiches – turkey, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, vinegar, and onions – but just recently started adding pickles and jalapeños and noticed that I now like it a lot better, though it is tough to pin on one new ingredient or the other.

75 miles for Chick-Fil-A? I’ve lived a couple miles from one for years but have never been. Maybe because I usually go for fast food on Sunday.

You can’t get Chick-Fil-A on Sunday. One of the corporate issues is that they’ll be closed for family and church.

Ciao,

What is this then?
