The Daily Ping

Not a toilet in the country has not been affected by the Ping in one way or another.

Google Maps Street View

Google Maps is just great. But you all knew that.

Yesterday Ryan alerted me to their new Street View feature, which lets you see things in a 360 degree panorama. The bad news is that it’s not available for a lot of cities – only a handful here in the US (and no Chicago, oddly) – but the good news is that it’s remarkable.

You can stand on the Golden Gate Bridge, for instance. Or see the lonely Pena Boulevard leading to DIA. It’s really spiffy.

Sure, other maps have done similar things before. But as usual Google has done it slickly and usefully. Very cool.

I finally tried this over a decent network connection (it fails quite slowly at work, since they only have 128Kbps down). It’s.. okay.

I prefer the old a9 map street views. But Amazon dropped their maps, so that’s gone.

And they went down the street next to where I live, but not my street. Sniff!

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
