A few months ago, I was super excited about Google Voice. Finally here was a service which could do it all! A phone number! Voicemail! SMS! Hooray! Google Voice! I love Google!
And here I am having never used it save for a test call when I got my invite.
For me, Google Voice solves a problem I don’t really have. I don’t yet feel a big disconnect between my home (landline) voicemail, my phone voicemail, and other messaging systems. I can understand the appeal of it, particularly the whole free SMS and cheap calls part, but it just isn’t quite there for me yet.
Am I alone in this? I’m glad I secured a cool phone number, at least.

I think it sounds cool enough, but I’m still trying to find others who use Google Wave first before I play around with Google Voice. The concept would solve some problems for me, especially if I’m traveling for work.

Just got my Google Voice invite a few hours ago (along with my wife), and we both agree that it looks a lot better than originally thought. For someone like me who still travels a bit, doesn’t have a private work phone, etc…This appears to an answer to a lot of my phone issues. I’ll update over time and see if my fervor is still strong in the coming months.
