Rollercoaster Tycoon

One of my all time favorite computer games is Rollercoaster Tycoon. This thing is addictive beyond belief! I picked up the thing when I won a gift certificate from a radio station, and have been playing it ever since.

The premise is similar in style to a Maxis Sim game in that you’re given a basic, basic set of rules and can basically do what you like. In this case you’re given a plot of land to build and develop a theme park. You have to deal with happy customers, money, making a good coaster, and of course, puke. Make your ride too intense and people will either not like it, or throw up after they get off of it.

While the graphics aren’t like Sim Theme Park in that you can ride the coaster, they’re cute and work very well with the feel of the game. You can get the hang of it pretty quickly, and it’s a whole lot of fun to play. I mean, I don’t really tend to play Quake III Arena-type games anymore. This is one of the reasons as to why. -pm
