Big Country is Back!

Oh, it’s like they never left… you remember Big Country, don’t you?

In a big country, dreams stay with you…

According to their official website, Big Country is working on their latest album! Er, uhm, wait a minute. It’s just a bunch of greatest hits. What work goes into a greatest hits album? You pick the tracks, you might remix a few, you call it a day.

And what? What is this? The album was issued back in August! Well, at least we’ve got a bunch of new EPs to look forward to. Oh, and an “official bootleg” – watch out, Pearl Jam, Big Country is coming back! In a big way! -pm

I still own the Big Country album...I'm talking VINYL. I got it for my 13th birthday. This was also when MTV had just started, so the "Big Country" video was in rotation like 80 times a day. It felt like back in 1984 MTV had about 10 videos that they just kept playing over and over and over. "Mexican Radio" is another one I remember. Ah, the glory days of MTV, alllllll viiiiideos. What a concept.

How can you have a greatest hits album if you've only had one hit? Maybe this is intended for the international market?

I still have Big Country's first album on LP too. It's really not that bad. It's indisputably better than The Dream Syndicate's first album.

Big Country is back in the news. It's not pleasant at all.

I know...I remember dating someone in college who considered them to be better than U2 at the time...they certainly had a great sound, and they remain at the top of my fave 80s bands.

What is this then?
