Mint Skittles

For the past few months, I’ve been having a mint audition in my automobile. Often, when I’m in the car, I need a mint or similar breath freshening agent to aid things along. Thus, I have a small container of mints always at the ready, just in case.

So yesterday I was amused and scared to see Mint Skittles. Look at those two words – I never, ever thought I’d see them together! The Minttles come in an appropriately semi-cool pleasing plastic container, which makes dispensing them… pleasing. There are five different shades of Minttles, all tasting like various peppermints.

The weirdest thing about the Minttles is that they have the consistency of normal Skittles. I think that Skittles have been ingrained so much in our memories as kids that throwing anything but a fruit flavor after that type of mouthfeel is weird. Very weird. I mean, they’re Skittles! I used to be addicted to fruit Skittles.

They do taste fine, by the way; nice and minty. Chewy, too. But the idea of Skittles, a pure candy, serving it up mint-style is going to take some getting used to. Like Coffee Pepsi. -pm

Nothing beats Cinnamon Altoids as the best "mint" around. I am addicted. At $2 a box, though, it's a drain on my pocketbook.

I agree Tina. I hardly ever buy them anymore, primary because according to the price per pound figure at the supermarket check they're something like $19 a pound. I'm not really a cheap skate, but just disturbed by that figure.

i work in a collage bookstore and we sometimes get free samples of products to give out. Apparently the parent company who makes skittles really wanted to impress us because we got about 50 cases of these mint skittles delivered to the store. now they were the little sample size packages but lets say it was the most candy ive ever seen we are all out now but i wish you put this ping up a month ago i could have scored a few cases for you paul
