Good Tax Intentions

Every year, I have the best intentions of doing my taxes early. I keep good track of my W-2s, 1099-INTs, and 666-FUs. I download the new copy of the tax software I use. Sometimes, I even actually start to enter the information in early. But every year, without fail, I end up submitting my taxes a few days late (federal taxes… don’t even get me started on my state taxes). It’s no big deal since I’m owed money each year, so there’s no penalty for being late, but it shows how once again, I’m better at the planning than the actual execution.

Anyone else have this problem? Any procrastinating Pingers come tax time? Or am I alone in this boat?

I had an accountant prepare my taxes last year due to some complex issues, but decided to do my own this year. Problem: all my forms went to the accountant this year!

Funny that you wrote this today because I am about to find the state tax office in the city today!

I should have done my federal taxes in January but waited a couple weeks, and just got my refund. Nice one.

I usually do my taxes as early as possible, so I don't have them hanging over my head. Of course, mine are fairly simple, since I don't own a house or anything like that. But I'd still probably do them early if I did have one. Just not quite as early. :P

I did mine back in Feb - filed electronically and had the refund within a week. I like to get it done quick. If I end up owning, I just wait until the last minute to actually file.

Every year I've done my taxes extremely early except this one. Things have changed this year, what with having a baby and all, and my wife lost the baby's social security #. We also needed her sister's social security # so we could deduct child care expenses. So we still haven't done taxes yet.

What is this then?
