I'd call them 'POC Boards'. One time some friends and myself were testing the springs in a hotel mattress by jumping on them in a very scientific fashion. The 'POC Boards' collapsed, and we were forced to fix them so as not to be billed for their replacement (which I'm sure would have been in the upper 3-digit range).

Turns out they were made out of particle board- and held together NOT with screws or a sturdy method, but a FABRIC TAPE!

So being the pieces of crap that they are, I vote for POC boards.

Speaking of things under hotel beds, did you ever see that tv show about Urban Legends? They did one segment about a couple who smelled something funny in their Vegas hotel room....and after searching the room and calling the management to help figure it out, guess what they finally found under the bed? A decomposing (obviously)dead body.

That's a scary thought when you're traveling. So if you smell something odd when staying at a hotel - lift your mattress, folks. Yikes.

actually, i see what you mean about the helpfulness of these under mattress "thingys" but for the millions of times i stubbed my toe on one, i would have rather lost something. tee hee.

Tina - Have you ever seen "Four Rooms"? Not a...great movie but "The Misbehavers" segment is based on that legend.

Random Trivia: "The Misbehavers" is a loose prequel to the "SpyKids" movies...
