Begging Equals Stardom

We live in a strange world.

When I first heard about Karyn, a woman who had gotten herself into some serious debt ($20,000), I thought that begging for people to repay her money for her was rather irresponsible. It was creative to do so online, but come on.

Out of curiosity, I visited her site yesterday to find that her debt had been entirely paid. (Oh, and it was a while ago. But still. Give me a break. It’s the holidays.) Coupled with help from visitors, she paid it off in just 20 weeks. Pretty remarkable.

At a time when bankruptcies are higher than ever and so is personal debt, is begging online the solution? Apparently, Yahoo! thinks so.

My first instinct was to think "Wow, next we'll have begging pop-ups". However, I went to Karyn's site and she has some really good tips and tricks posted. Hey, so what if someone wants to pay for her advice - everyone else charges for their advice too.

Her website wasn't begging, per se, it was just a SUGGESTION for people to help her out- it wasn't like she forced anyone to give her money. Kinda like panhandling....wait a minute! :)

Wow, wonder if the internet population would pay my mortgage? *grin*

Uhm... I see nothing about "forcing" here. If you want to candy-coat something and call it a "suggestion," so be it. It's beggin'. Word.

But don't you just love the word "per se"?

PER SE -- Of, in, or by itself or oneself; intrinsically.

That's a beautiful word, or words, per se.

I dunno, Tina. I think that it's begging. To each his or her own, I s'pose.
