Developers of DVD players must have a good time deciding on what their units will say when powered on or off. For instance, one of our DVD players greets you with a wonderous, “Welcome to DVD World!” when you turn it on. When you turn it off, it’s slightly less wonderous, with just a “Bye.” Our other DVD player welcomes you with “Welcome to Toshiba DVD” and says “Goodbye” when powered down.
My car stereo does a similar thing where it greets you with “Hello” but shuts down with the friendly, “See you.”
