Musical Guilty Pleasure

I have to confess that I have a soft spot for a select few bad 80s singles. And I say “bad” because they just aren’t great songs. But there’s something about them.

First, there’s the Murray Head classic “One Night in Bangkok.” I won’t go into details, because thanks to the Internet, someone else already has. It’s a quirky song that makes me think, “What the hell kind of musical was Chess anyway?”

The next is Wall of Voodoo’s “Mexican Radio.” This has two things going for it (at least:) a great band name, and “Can’t understand just what does he say?” – a fine turn of the phrase.

I’m also not ashamed to admit that I really liked Howard Jones. Though maybe I should be, and I’ll just end this Ping on a low note.
