The Daily Ping

This Ping redesign took 7 years and cost $58 million in taxpayer dollars.

While I can’t say I’ve enjoyed having a Roomba around the house (we have hardwood floors,) I can say that a small part of me has longed for something that would… yes, wash hardwood floors. Because I’m lazy like that.

The good news is that it’s happening: Scooba. While I’m not too crazy about the name (reminds me of Scooby-Doo,) I think the idea is boffo. Scooba takes care of washing and drying the floor on top of picking up the little bits and dust bunnies.

My concerns…. 1) This uses a Clorox solution, which probably means it has bleach in it, and we’re a no-bleach household. 2) It seems to require purchase of said solution. I don’t want to be locked in to anything, if I can help it. And 3) it’s going to cost more than $5.00. Doh!

They really need to work on the Lawnba.

I don't think bleach is good for hardwoods anyway. We only use the manufacturers recommended cleaner on our hardwoods. I think it's alcohol based - spray a light mist on the floors and then wipe up.

Even the expensive model can't handle my yard. I guess I'll just have to make my son start doing the yard...

Good news: Scooba works with a weak vinegar and water solution!

Bad news: Still costs $300. But still!

What is this then?
