If you’ve got half an hour to kill this weekend, and you have even a passing interest in video games, I suggest you view this video showcasing the upcoming game Spore. It’s from Will Wright, the genius behind SimCity (and SimAnt!)
Spore starts out as a basic life simulator – very, very basic on the level of bacteria – and moves through evolution, civilization, and colonization. You have total control over your being’s design, how it evolves, how it interacts with tools, how it interacts with other beings… the list is endless. It is, in a word, amazing. It might be the best video game ever once it’s released – yes, better then Duke Nukem Forever. Go watch.
