Jerry Lewis Telethon

The Labor Day weekend brings with it the longest-running-annual-event-I-never-watch: the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. One family friend always hated Jerry Lewis because his telethon always signaled the beginning of the school year and, as a teacher, that wasn’t exactly his favorite time of year. Me, I’ve never devoted more than five minutes of time to it, once this morning to watch a group of Polish triplets playing fiddles. They were awesome until they started to sing this schmaltzy love song. It’s that always the story?

I guess my favorite part of the telethon comes in the days following when Don and Mike deconstruct all of Jerry’s borderline offensive comments throughout the show.

Now, if they’d show The Day the Clown Cried, I’d watch the actual telethon, glued to my TV…

I respect people’s views regarding Jerry. MY family LOVES JERRY LEWIS- but we also have a son with Duchenne’s MD. If Jerry was not the leader in the fight then who will fight, certainly not our government. We get not one penny of SSI or any help at all. Jerry is a real leader. If Jerry’s methods are not conventional he still is the most successful at raising money for MY kid.
I would love to see another person famous or not out do Jerry!

I still have my Don and Mike show podcast from LAST YEAR, where they completely destroyed Jerry Lewis and Ed McMahon. Hearing a hoarse Ed trying to announce in the middle of the night still makes me laugh til it hurts.

What is this then?
