Taxi Magic is Like Magic

After a couple of missed taxis, I decided to give the app Taxi Magic a try. A coworker had recommended it enthusiastically, and it sounded perfect: not only can one book a cab via the app, but one can pay for the ride too. No “broken” credit card machines!

It works pretty simply. The app presents a list of taxi companies, and those which fully support Taxi Magic allow you to book (versus just calling.) You choose the pick-up location, pick-up time, destination, and method of payment. The whole thing takes a few minutes and believe you me, it works.

For the taxi company I used, I got an email notification an hour before the cab arrived as a reminder. I got a text message when the taxi was dispatched, and a phone call when the fellow arrived. It was like… magic.

Paying was also a breeze. I just told the driver I was going to pay on my phone and it was done. I even got a lovely PDF receipt for expensing.

The whole thing is just marvelous, and it’s how interacting with a taxi should be in 2011. I encourage you to give it a try.
