The Daily Ping

There were rumors of a Ping book, but those were started on the internet.

I Don’t Need A Catalog

Like many of you, I now buy a lot of stuff online. Come to think of it, there’s very little I buy exclusively offline anymore. But there’s one thing a lot of companies still do, and it bugs the hell out of me: they send catalogs.

I do think that catalogs still have their place, but listen. If I buy something online, how about you never send me a print catalog ever? Make me request it. I shouldn’t just get it.

This Ping was inspired by a recent trip out of town. When we arrived back home, a good 80% of our mail consisted of catalogs that neither my wife nor I requested. And yeah, I know about Catalog Choice. But why is the default something which is an enormous waste of time, postage, and trees? Hmmmm?

Hi Ryan,

I’m reading through the comments regarding EHS. (paused at August 2005 and decided to write to you. :-)) Have you had anyone say that when falling asleep that they sometimes have a banging feeling that starts slow and speeds up. It’s not the heart for sure, it happens in my head. For me this happens most times when I am napping and will happen at the beginning or at the end of a nap. Also at times I get the one jolt bang and other times like a vertigo spinning sensation. I’ve experienced this since I was a little girl but as I age it is increasing in severity and frequency. Any thoughts?

It’s 2011, after all!

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
