Vitamins

I admit: I do not take vitamins every day.

I’ve had a checkered history with vitamins. When I went on a big diet in the 6th grade, one of the things I needed to do was take a vitamin every day. So I took one from Walgreens, and it was a big, gigantic horsepill that tasted awful. I never liked the vitamin and once the supply ran out I stopped taking them.

Since then I’ve felt that I should take vitamins but haven’t found anything that meets my “not taste awful” criteria. It’s so bad that if I get that Standard Vitamin Taste in my mouth I start to feel a little ill. Not illin’, but ill.

I tried out a multivitamin from Trader Joe’s last week but it tasted really bad. I think the problem is that I either want a taste-neutral vitamin, a capsule, or a good tasting vitamin… like a Flintstones vitamin. Anyone know if I can get that in a daily men’s formula?

Incidentally, vitamins for kids? So much better nowadays. They’ve got everything in gummy form. You know, adults like gummy bears, too.

I find that Centrum isn’t *too* bad, if swallowed quickly.

But unless you can find something in a gel capsule, you’re out of luck. They just don’t make tasty chewable vitamins for adults. Stupid vendors. I know a lot of people who would take them if they were more fun. They’re really missing out on a key segment of the market.

Hold the vitamin between your front teeth, swallow with a large gulp of water. Don’t let it touch your tongue. You’ll never taste it.

Paul, could you imagine a pineapple-flavored vitamin?

Try what they do with dogs. Wrap the vitamin is a piece of cheese.

You could ask your doctor what the appropriate amount of a Flintstone vitamin would be. With both of my pregnancies I couldn’t keep the pre-natal pills down. So the doctors had me taking 2 Flintstones instead. Now that’s too much for a regular person, since you need higher amounts of things when pregnant but maybe 1 1/2 pills…

What is this then?
