The Daily Ping

P is for Ping. That's good enough for me.

The ugliest vehicle you can buy today.

Pontiac Aztek. No doubt. I can’t imagine what the designers were thinking when it came to the exterior. Sure, it might drive well and have a nice interior… and I suppose there are people who value that above everything else. This’ll be the minivan for them (it is a minivan, by the way).

The Aztek takes the crown from the Kia Spectra, which only held the title for a short time. Previously, the Ford Focus trio took top honors. -pm

I don't trust a design that gives the illusion that the car has already been hit from behind. It goes right out and steals my job from me.

I saw the Aztek at a car show recently and it's not as bad when you see it in person (in my opinion). And strangely, the yellow Aztek is the best looking one (I usually don't like the bright yellow cars).

When I saw the Aztek at the Chicago Auto Show, I fell to the floor in laughter and terror.

Do the car companies ever stop and say: GOOD LORD, WHAT WHERE WE THINKING!!?

Well....ok I understand it is odd looking. I had been looking at them from the time of introduction and now I own one. No matter what think guys this is an awsome car. Strange yes, but I have to say I have owned many cars and this one is (imho) top notch. It drives smooth and quiet with good power from the engine. When you are all done laughing at it please drive one. I think you will be glad you did.

I sat in an Aztek at the auto show and was unimpressed with the plastic-happy, cheap-feeling interior. Jeff, we're gonna have to agree to disagree. And even if it's a BMW, if it's ugly, it's going to be tough for me to get over.

That said, I have an odd fascination and infatuation with the PT Cruiser, which many people think is quite ugly.

I find the Scion mini truck-like vehicle to be mighty unattractive. Unless of course you want to sell ice cream from your car.

It's kinda ugly, but it's better looking than most SUVS that have a big rear end to match the big fast-food asses of their owners. What really gets me are four-doors that wish they were street racers and especially anything with a spolier. One of these days I'm going to take a crowbar and destroy every super-spoiler in sight.

The PT Cruiser Convertible is just about the ugliset and stupidest thing I've ever seen.

PT = Pretty Terrible. Oops, someone near and dear to our hearts here has one.

Good call with the Scion, jk. I always think the brown versions look like a cardboard box with wheels.

(and during my work as a traffic reporter, I can tell you that they react like cardboard boxes when you get in an accident, if you know what I mean)

A friend of mine has the Scion that wants to be a Golf, and I did worry that it might be awfully light.

On the other hand, I think the Mazda 3 is cute.

What is this then?
