Cooling Off

It’s been pretty hot here as of late. Last week we had a series of days in the 80s, but it’s been from 90-95 degrees here for what seems like weeks now. When it gets as warm as this, what do you do to cool off? That is, other than run inside to air conditioning.

I keep thinking of summers from years ago, when all it took was a sprinkler in the backyard. You just don’t see kids running through sprinklers anymore. -pm

Apparently you don't hang out at my former place of employment (montessori school), as we ran through the sprinkler at least 3 times a week there. During the summer, of course. I bet the reason you don't see kids doing that is because you don't hang out with kids. So go make some kid friends and maybe they will invite you over to run in the sprinkler.

I like to go ride my bike until I'm sweating pretty good, and then run in the house to bask in my own natural cooling system supplemented by an unnatural one. Ah, the modern conveniences...

You want hot? I'm writing from my hotel room in Taipei. It's 90 degrees all day every day here, with massive humidity.

Cooling off here involves going into a 7-11 or a Family Mart about every half-hour.

Strangely, noone here seems to complain about the heat. It must be some kind of environmental adaptation.

Dave -- Tell Taipei I said hello. They had a nice, empty airport. :)

While traveling through Europe I tended to just let my natural sweat cool me off. I think from not having air conditioning in college, and also usually not using it in my car I have adapted to most heat situations.

yesterday I went to the pool and swam laps. After that, I was at peace with the heat. Now if only there was a pool like every 3 blocks!
