Daily Ping Pong

Some Ping cronies and I were flipping channels yesterday evening and after watching a rousing round of Double Dare 2000, we settled on a professional table tennis tournament in Brazil. I had never seen professionals play before… there’s no doubt these guys are above the standard player’s level. They move at warp speed and use their arm to hide their serves. Forrest Gump would have had trouble keeping up with these guys (and gals) and their body-contorting serves.

Sweet deal, I never knew that I would be a part of two consecutive Pings by Ryan.
I felt that overall the Women's final that we viewed was a better level of play than the Men's. The women seemed to have much faster serves, and overall their gameplay speed was also faster.

I'm disappointed there were not ping pong injuries. Although, my ass sure hurts.

On the Hong Kong stations I was watching in Taiwan recently, they show a LOT of table-tennis and badminton. The commentators seemed to know everything that was going on with the ping-pong (types of spin, subtle techniques, etc.) but all it looked like to me was a really fast blur. It got really confusing when they had doubles matches on.

My favorite obscure sport to watch on TV is curling. Too bad I don't get Canadian TV anymore.
