Accidental Throwouts

Yesterday, I received something fairly important in the mail: a check. A check that wasn’t exactly a long time coming, but was very important nonetheless. I had grabbed it from the mail pile when we came home, and brought it into the office.

About two hours later, as I was sitting on the couch, I thought, “Oh crap. I think I threw the check out.” I ran, arms flailing, to the office to see if the check was in the trash. It was. I had almost thrown out a very nice-sized check, and all because I was anxious to dispose of the ads from the DIRECTV bill.

Is there anything that you’ve accidentally thrown out? Did it ever come back, or did you smack yourself on the head later for not getting it?

My mom reminded me that my parents accidently threw out my ski-clothes and boots about 7 years ago yesterday.

I threw out my sense of shame somewhere around my junior year of college and I've never looked back. :-D

I was really hurt when my parents INSISTED that I'd thrown out the remote along with a candy wrapper, which I couldn't remember if I'd did or not, but didn't think I'd do something like that (how could you think a candy wrapper would be that heavy?) when all along it was hiding under the couch.

I went to the corner to mail a very important letter (my college acceptance letter). There was a blue garbage can with the opening on the side right next to the mailbox. I put the letter in there by mistake. I realized what I had done after I had walked about a mile back towards my house. I remebered because my brain couldn't remember that mailbox door squeak noise. I ran back and sure enough, there was the letter sitting on top of the trash. Now who would put a square blue garbage can right next to the mailbox? I bet there are tons of letters that go into the trash at that corner.

What is this then?
