OJ

The way I figure it, orange juice is one of the more complicated juices on the market, with a variety of options you must consider before buying. A rough classification chart follows:

Pulp Level

  • None
  • Some
  • Lots (Grove/Homestyle)

Fortification

  • Regular
  • Extra vitamins C and E
  • Extra Calcium

Flavor

  • Straight orange juice
  • Orange-Tangerine
  • Orange-Passionfruit
  • Orange-Cranberry
  • Orange-other

Me, I’m a NCS type of guy (specially flavored OJ is not usually available fortified), but sometimes I feel like an NRT.

What about you? Are you picky, or do you just go with a straight OS (what’s “On Sale”) philosophy?

I dig NRS, NES, and NCS; but any of the NRT varieties are also welcome in the household.

One time I spilled LRS on my N64. That was horrible. But I still like LRS

Well I'm a moron. I hit the back button and saw that paul's response was still there, and that mine appeared yet to be sent as though I had just gone through some magical time warp and actually undid everything I just did and so I hit Submit again. Kooky

I tend to go for some or lots of pulp (isn't that where all the fiber is?), though I never gave so much thought to the fortification.

Store brand NCS for us - unless the "not- from-concentrate" (the good stuff!) is on sale at the same price.

I tend to stick with whatever is in the house, which usually is NCS. I'm not a big pulp fan but will drink it if that's what we have.

This is actually a bit of a problem in our house. I prefer SCS, though LCS or LRS are acceptable alternatives. I think the pulp gives it a more authentic texture. Katherine can't stand the pulp and prefers NRS. So we sorta have to decide on who will be doing the majority of the drinking before we purchase.

It is amazing that there are markets for all the different varieties.

IIRC, Chris, the four of us talked about this a while back. Katherine agrees with me on the idea that you shouldn't have to chew your orange juice... and Huyen agrees with you. :)
