Record Review Sites

Pingers, I’m in need of your help. I need to know of good record review sites. All sorts of records – mainstream, indie, Guinness.

The reason I ask is that there seem to be very few left. Years ago, back when the Internet fit on a floppy, there were sites like Addicted to Noise to quench my thirst… and even the print version of Rolling Stone was somewhat readable then. But now? So few. In fact, I can only think of two: the fine Sinwagon – which isn’t updated enough – and ADDreviews, which has the 20-word market covered.

So can you recommend a good review site?

Though I haven't delved too deeply into it, Blog Critics looks to be worth watching. looks decent, as well.

Other than reading our own thoughts on Sinwagon, I also check out 75 or Less.

But why read 75 whole words when you can read just 20? :)

Sometimes it takes me a handful of paragraphs to completely explain how much something sucks. I could never do it in 20 or 75, for I am too verbose.

I'll second Tina's suggestion and add The Brain.

Village Records ( does a monthly newsletter with great reviews of roots rock / alt-country stuff, the vast majority of which are artists I have never heard of.

And perhaps the most obvious (though so far ignored): the All Music Guide.

Thanks Robert - that All Music Guide site is a new one for me, and well worth it!
