Last night, late last night, it was announced that an arrest had been made in the DC-area sniper shootings. I’m curious as to what all of you, particularly those in the area, think about all of this (including the media coverage.)

While here in Chicago I’ve been able to think about it, I can’t fully relate. But the idea of being afraid to do anything outside for fear of getting shot – at any time, for no “good” reason – is more frightening than anything that the Axis of Evil, Inc. has done in some time.

This is certainly good news to wake up to that they have people in custody...

It's been an interesting three weeks. While I haven't been all paranoid doing the sniper shuffle, I've gotten a little more uneasy with each new incident. Especially the one in Falls Church (across the street from the frame shop Huyen works at part-time).

So, fingers crossed. Hopefully the wave of paranoia that's spread can finally start to dissipate a bit.

The day that the bus driver was shot was the first day that I ever got paranoid. I don't know why, really. Probably because I was dumb enough to listen to news about it for the entire drive to work. Then when I got to work, I was the only one outside and the walk from the parking lot to the school suddenly seemed too long. I felt very exposed.

I really hope that they've either got the guy or that the guys they've got lead the police to the sniper.

Interestingly, yesterday was the first time I consciously did something different because of the sniper. I filled up my gas tank when it was only at 1/2, because I was headed into town to meet a friend and I did not want to risk needing to get gas at an Interstate gas station. I typically let my tank run down to fumes every time.

Even though one of the shooting was 1 mile from my house, I really haven't let it bug me. Hell, I didn't even know about that shooting until the next day!

Not that I'm endorsing this theory...but something to think about.

The sniper(s) have been unseen, unheard, and damn near perfect for 3 weeks. Now we catch them asleep in their car with the murder weapon in the trunk?

Add in the "duck in a noose" bit...

And one starts to smell a major set up. Real sniper hires this bozo for a "contract kill" in Alabama, hires him again in two weeks for another one in DC, and then sells him up the river without a boat or paddle.

Sounds like it came right out of "The Practice"

I live in Richmond and in the past two weeks I've noticed that I really have to put gas in my car a lot. Before, I never really thought about it.

I've noticed that the Tom Berringer movie "Sniper" has not been shown recently.

What is this then?
