The Story About Ping was about a duck, not this website.

Before there was Orbitz, the travel service, there was Orbitz, the drink with balls floating in it.

And really, what more can one ask for in a drink?

Orbitz is something I never tried, but I somewhat fear floating particles in my soft drinks. I guess it’s a “new age drink”, but I don’t think solids and liquids should attempt to combine like this. Come on, man. The last thing I want when I want a cold beverage is to have a cold, chewy beverage!

Did any brave souls here ever try Orbitz, and perhaps like it? I’m curious about it, much like Hot Dr. Pepper.

the stuff was nasty. it wasnt really solid balls of anything it was more like colored bits of fluid floating in thicker fluid. about the conbsistency of syrup.... not exactly refreshing

was only able to find orbitz while in canada... pope hentai's description pretty much sums it up. it has the consistency of when you have a head cold and accidently swallow some of your own phlegm. yummy.

I remember seeing it in 7-11s about six or seven years ago - my theory was that the balls were a mold product of sorts.

I was always more curious about the extra-carbonated soda ( that made your belches louder, but I've never seen it for sale.

My friend Gail was in Taiwan for a summer and got to try something like this. She likes it, but I can't bring myself to try it to vouch for it too. It sounds even more mucus-y than the Orbitz. :-P

I was at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA this past weekend, and I actually saw the drink Orbitz in a store. There's no way I was going to buy a drink that had stuff floating in it.

Greg beat me, though..I was thinking if you put a flashlight next to it, it would look like a poor mans lava lamp.

I loved Orbitz when I was younger! The flavour was just incredible! My favourite was the red one. I can still remember that feeling of all them little coloured balls flow down my throat with the fluid! OOOOhhh!!! the greatest sensation i ever experienced! I was just amazed at how them little coloured balls stayed in place in the middle of the drink like that. I would give anything just to have those put back on the market. Wow! I had the impression that I was the only person who enjoyed them things, much like them Mentos commercials everyone hated. Lisa Loeb! I had a huge crush on her! (I still do), Gee, the '90s were great, eh?

I think that there were only five flavours, six at the most. I have one of each, just because they are so weird, and kind of lava-lampy(a word that says something looks like a lava lamp). It is hard to find most of them, except for the purple one - bLack cURraNt beRry(whoah dude! I'll bet you thought capital letters were only supposed to be at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns, but not with these guys, that's how they've got it! I'm freakin' out!). There used to be TONS of these available, and you can still find them on E-bay and Yahoo auctions. Also, if you have one of those warehouse places that sell all kinds of crap(tourist attraction) you should find entire crates of this one flavour. We have a few places called "The Great Canadian Warehouse" in Ontario Canada, and I have seen them there recently. You may also find that Cledus Maggard cassette you've been searching for, or ANYTHING discontinued due to the fact that it a)Doesn't work, or b)really sucks!
I haven't had one in a while, but I think it was yellow or orange that I thought was tolerable, but I can't get past the balls. It's like when you have bread caught in your teeth, but don't find it 'till an hour later when you're exploring your mouth with your tongue, when it's taking a break from exploring other parts of the world.

I loved orbitz, I thought they tasted great and were pretty cool. One day though they disappeared and I just found out recently that they were discontinued. Apparently they were manufactured by Clearly drinks of Canada, there website is, they now only have four drinks and none look as good as orbitz. I thought the little gel balls were awesome, I still have one bottle blueberry melon strawberry that I use mostly as a decoration.

I just did a Google on Orbitz and came up with this site...Why am I Googling Orbitz you may ask? Well, it's because I happen to have a basement full of the stuff. I used to promote the product in Canada, and even though I was giving the product away for free, I still managed to have a whole lot left over. 'nuff said. I have no idea what would be involved in shipping this stuff elsewhere, but if anyone is seriously interested in paying the costs of having this stuff shipped to them, I would be more than happy to send you as much as your heart desires...I have plenty of all 4 flavours. They're the original batch from way back when, so I have no idea if they're even safe to drink anymore, but they still look pretty :)

i am seriously looking for ORBITZ! i was telling my fiancee about it a little while ago and about how my friend, (whos known for having all the weird new stuff) gave it to me. i remember drinking all but some of the juice through my teeth to leave the balls behind. then try to chew them up all at once. it was a strange taste that untill lately i had forgot about. but then i tasted a "pacific cooler" from Capri Sun and BAM...that old taste came flooding back. and so now...i want some of course and havent a freaking clue where to get it. i dont know if i want to have it shipped all the way from Canada to New Jersey, but if anyone wants to sell it to me...please do so...e-mail me pleeeeez.

I tried Orbitz when I was in grade 7 and it was the hottest fad - right alongside the Spice Girls, the Barbie Song by Aqua, and ankle bracelets. I remember drinking Orbitz and feeling like I was consuming my own vomit. Not only was not tasty, but the balls inside it were totally unappealing and make me shudder to this day. If you ever come across a bottle, for god's sake, don't drink it (it could be ten years old!), but.... it's not worth it. Be kind to your organs! This drink does your body no good!

Wow. Orbitz. I had forgotten the name of this rather unique drink. I'd like to have a few bottles, just for old time's sake, though I'm not sure about the wisdom of actually drinking one.

I never disliked the flavor, and the little balls never bothered me at all. If I tried to catch them with my teeth, they just tore to pieces and flowed on with the fluid. They always reminded me of fruit snacks in corn syrup.

Of course I am willing to pay shipping for a few bottles, if you have them, e-mail me under this name at

hahaa... I loved Orbitz. In fact I wish they still made them! I have four bottles, empty and clean of course. I just can't get over them! Yummy jello-like blobs in the syrupy liquid.. yum.... Lets see my bottles are:

Yellow = Raspberry Citrus
Orange = Vanilla Orange
Red = Blueberry Melon Strawberry
White = Pineapple Banana Cherry Coconut

"Defy Gravity" and hey... I got one of these bottles around the time Independance Day the movie came out... it has a lid that says ID4 Video Game hahaha... So these actually aren't too old. In fact they have the website on the lid which we all know now is the site of the travel company... hah.

And just for kicks heres your ingredients list:

Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sugar, Natural Flavor, Citric Acid, Gellan Gum (that would be the balls), Sodium Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Color Added

woohoo doesn't that sound tasty!?

Orbitz, was simply the most hated, and my favorite soft drink ever. Frankly, I know people couldnt' get passed the fact of the floating Xanthum gum beads but damned if for some reason I liked the flavor and chewing on the beads. We used to find it in 1998-2000 at a Dollar store in Minneapolis, MN. We could buy a case of it for for .25 a bottle, coming to 6 bucks, it was cheap and good tasting. Frankly, it's nto hard to see that it just wasn't for people who already liked mountain dew and's just not their thing.

I’m looking for Orbitz for a disco party – think they’d be a cool centerpiece. Plus I’d just love them as I *loved* Orbitz back in the day. OR if anyone knows how to *make* orbitz that would be great too.

Kat January 28, 2007, 6:42 am

I’ve thought about this drink on and off over the years. It just popped into my head now and thought i would google it. WoW! I can’t believe all the people who really did like this drink. I loved it! Alot of my friends thought i was a little strange for liking it as they couldn’t stand it. Never stopped me from drinking it though. I can remember my first one like it was yesterday and i was hooked! lol I looked in every store trying to find it and when i did i usually bought 2 at a time. I would down the first one then take my time with the second bottle.I like most who dared to try it, tried it cause it was something new and different. Man that stuff was good!
I need to go now and sign that petition. I WANT SOME ORBITZ! Bye!

Ok i signed it. Your turn next!

I honestly thought I was the only person in the world who liked this drink until I read the above comments. I liked the red one (I can’t even remember what the flavor was). I signed the petition, but considering that it has 14 signatures I really don’t think the drink will ever come back. Ah well, at least I tried. . .

i remember drinking orbitz all the time when i was younger my little sister and i loved it. im a little upset that they dont make it anymore.

Molly September 7, 2007, 2:27 pm

I’m so happy to see that I’m not the only one who liked this beverage. I used to make treks to the local drugstore after school and buy one every couple days, I was addicted to the Raspberry Citrus flavor. I really miss Orbitz! I still remember the day I visited the travel site, and thought “where’s my favourite drink???” Sigh, the memories… Really I don’t know what people complained about with the flavor, to me it tasted like those Capri Sun juice boxes from childhood with some jello thrown in. I thought it was pretty tasty! If Clearly Canadian or any other company decided to market them again, they’d definitely have me as a happy consumer!

Jason November 14, 2007, 2:18 am

I loved this drink when i was younger! i find it revolting now, and it’s not hard to find people who want to sell their bottles, search online, i found a guy willing to trade dvd’s for a tweleve pack just tonight. yay orbitz, i’m trying to write a research paper on the stuff and i can’t find sources!!! help a kid out 😉

Katie February 19, 2008, 7:04 pm

What a nice mom I had for buying me this crap when I was a teenager. I was the only person in school who had it and I think I only went through one case/pack back when it was on the grocery shelves.

Obvious that the appeal of it was what drew me to it. I dont remember it being horrible as I have read about. Back then it was not bad. Now! I would not drink it, I don’t think.

I also remember seeing Obritz drink on the TV Series “Cluless”….and that is what triggered my search for this in early 2008. I can’t believe people are still talking about it, but what a product!!!

I dont think you missed much mister! but thanks for the oppertunity to reply to your post!

Ahhh… a trip down memory lane! I’ve been on this quest to find someone who remembers Orbitz (I remember it as “Orbit”), but NO one in my shithole town knows what I’m talking about when I bring it up. I used to buy it from Woodall’s when I was younger. I can’t believe it was actually sold here, being the “rare” commodity that it allegedly was, when the largest building in town at that time was a K-Mart. I remember seeing it for the first time… and thinking that it was the coolest thing ever. I got a bottle every time I went to Woodall’s, even though it didn’t taste too great. I don’t really remember what it tasted like, but that’s beside the point. One day I realized that all of the Orbit just mysteriously disappeared, and I’ve never seen or heard about them since. But that drink will always hold a special place in my memory.

ILOVEORBITZ April 5, 2008, 6:26 am

ORBITZ was one of my favorite drinks as a young boy. I loved it so much that, thats one of the main things that I remember about that age (6). After school my mother would take my sister and I to 7-11 almost every day and I would walk out of that store double- fisted and proud, though I don’t remember what flavors in particular I would get, all I knew is that I loved each and every flavor. what made me think about this exotic drink again? the pure love for the Gelatin balled drink. IF YOU ARE SOMEONE who misses this drink and want to regain the magical memory there is HOPE. Yes ORBITZ is discontinued but the other day I was at my friends house and his father bought this drink from the grocery store and it looked like an ordinary clear fitness water, when I took a sip I was confused something was different and i noticed that it contained clear gelatin balls much small and clear gelatin balls. It tasted awesome and was not thick at all. It gave me the same feeling as when i drank orbitz… it was wonderful. the only down side is that i forgot to remember the name of it!!! oooops BUT ALL YOU ORBITZ LOVERS NOW KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING LIKE IT OUT THERE.. CLOSE TO YOU.. GOOD LUCK

I remember trying Orbitz one time, probably around ’96 or ’97 in Hawaii, which is the only place in America I ever saw them sold, and the experience was rather awful. I wanted to like it…I really did. They were so aesthetically pleasing. I think I tried two bottles of it (two seperate times), but something in it made my tounge swell to dangerous proportions so I had to quit it. I don’t even remember what the flavors tasted like (though I’ve heard via the internet they were all shit). probably couldn’t taste anything because my taste buds were all
f*&%ked up. I miss them only because they’re nostalgic. Did anyone else have a reaction like this to the drink??

I found a bunch of Orange and Yellow at a store in Urbana, Illinois. Bought two of each. One of the yellows I gave to a friend, and drank one of the orange as I drove to chicago. I should actually say, tried to drink, because, even though I was dying of thirst, it was absolutely undrinkable. It was basically thick sugar water, with no thirst quenching properties whatsoever. I really tried to like it, think I made it 1/4 through the bottle. I gave the remainder to my brother, who is notorious for eating/drinking anything, esp. if it doesn’t cost him anything. Even he couldn’t stomache it.
Struck me that the demographic for it was little kids, the same ones they target with those horrible cereals like cinnamon toast crunch.
I still have the other two bottles on my shelf. Guess now I have to complete my collection and hunt down the other colours, too.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff! I haven’t had it in FOREVER because it’s impossible to find. If anyone can get any, let me know! I will pay for the drinks, the shipping and compensate GREATLY on top of that! (It saves me from having to drive to Canada on the chance they might still sell it there…)
