America was robbed

America was surely robbed when the judges didn’t let young William Hung pass through to Hollywood on this season’s American Idol. There’s no doubt that William had the most intestinal fortitude of any of the contestants, willfully giving up his ever having a chance for a date in his life by coming on national television and belting out a Ricky Martin song like it had never been done before. His cries of “She bang! She bang!” will forever ring in my head and I can honestly say that if William Hung were to release a CD, it would be the first CD by an American Idol contestant that I’d buy. Who cares if he has no professional training of singing, he’s the real deal.

Thankfully, I’m not the only one that feels this way.

Remember, he had no professional training!

It's amazing how much of a reaction this guy is getting. We had a segment on our morning show last week about William Hung, and the calls were all supportive.

I wouldn't buy a CD of his..maybe a video, though. The dancing he did made the entire performance worthwhile. If nothing else, the fact that Simon ripped him (deservedly so), and he just shrugged it of made me a fan of his.

I watched the video clip of his audition and quite enjoyed it. He was quite tolerable, and quite entertaining. He'll go places with his great attitude.

And be sure to check out WilliamHung.net -- there's a great link there to a recent live performance. The crowd went nuts for him. And he maintains his great attitude, too.

Why isn't anyone making fun of that name: Hung? I didn't see the show, so that's all I have to go with.

He was just so darn pleasant!

About his name....my friend's husband's first name is Hung. It's Vietnamese; I bet some of our names sound obscene to them too.

Speaking of Vietnamese... in Vietnam, I always saw store signs that would make me giggle... "Hung Phat" was a great one...

One of my friend's in Ontario, Canada is named Wah Hung. His brother is Way. I know as Chinese immigrants to Canada it took them a LONG time to get over the teasing.
