Hershey’s Take 5

In the interest of quality web content, I offer up a mini-review of the new Hershey candy bar, Take 5.

At first blush I was a bit scared of the idea. Pretzels, peanut butter, peanuts, caramel, and chocolate all in one bar sounded like a pretty bizarre idea. But given that I enjoy a chocolate-covered peanut butter-filled pretzel every now and then, I imagine that Hershey was looking for me.

The surprising thing about the bar is that it’s really two bars, like a Mounds or Almond Joy. Beyond that though, Take 5 wasn’t anything groundbreaking. It’s good, and the pretzels play a pretty solid role, but they’re also lost in the other flavors. I didn’t really think, “Wow, pretzels!” when I first tried the bar; I thought, “Wow, that’s a lot of mixed-up flavors!”

I think I’d get the Take 5 again if I really needed a candy bar (ie, to live) and nothing else was around. But I don’t see myself choosing to eat it. Snickers has the “mixture under chocolate” genre locked up. Take 5? No thanks.

Wasn't Take 5 a boy band with one hit? Seriously though, is the outer chocolate milk chocolate, or dark? I need to know since tomorrow is self check-out day for me at Giant.

jk,

It's Milk Chocolate. I actually liked it when I tried it a few weeks ago (Acme had it on sale for a quarter.)..the pretzels were just crunchy enough to make for a satisying snack. I actually preferred it over a Snickers, which always makes me feel way too heavy after eating it. This bar was a bit lighter.

As for the band, I think you are thinking of "Jump 5"...close enough. :)

Was it Take 6 then? They had a video where they were outside in the rain, and it was shot in black and white.

I am usually not a fan of Hershey's, but for the sake of the Ping, I will suck it up.

OK, Take 6 was a gospel-inspired band of the 80s and 90s.....not a boy band.

Back on topic, please, jk.

A ha! It was Take That, and the song was Back for Good.

I still think I could beat Mark McGrath on Rock n Roll Jeopardy.

Off to eat some Tasty Kakes.....

They are like when you put rolos on a little square pretzel thing and melt it, or a kiss, with nuts. I havent had one but my cousin was talking about them yesterday and the song is stuck in my head "its one more than four, TAKE 5!" You know you have heard it

Is Take 5 new? I swear it's been around for years. Maybe it's a re-release.

I'll try one and report back. I never thought I'd like chocolate covered pretzels because it seemed like overkill. Then, someone got some for me last Christmas, and I ate the whole box in about five minutes. But with coconut? Hmmmmmmm.

Twix is still my fave (original variety).

There was a band called "Five" or "5".
They were big on the Disney Channel.

Take That! had Robbie Williams. I'm pretty sure they kicked him out.
