Short Cable

I shifted some things around in my entertainment center a few weeks ago to make room for a turntable. When I did, though, I had to move my Dish receiver up a section, which made it just a bit too far away from my TV. See, I have a 3′ S-Video cable and even with all the shifting around and rearranging possible, the closest I could get the two connectors was 3 feet and 1/2 an inch. Can I tell you how frustrating it is to have to buy a new cable because your old one is 1/2 an inch too short?

I know I set myself up for comments with that last sentence, so have at it.

i think there should be a new law that says all cables and cords should be like 5 feet long atleast. everything is always too short!

You know if your cable was 3'1, someone would still complain the cable was too short. Personally, if your equipment is really close, a 5' cable would be a real tangle.

What I hate the most is that many of these cables -- even though they are just two connector plugs and some wires in a tube -- can cost upwards of $50.

I just remember the last time I needed an external SCSI2 cable. The best price I could find was $50. Or a stereo splitter jack (for those 1/4" plugs) -- $12 at Radio Shack.

Come on. That's highway robbery.

What is this then?
